    Default VH on the radio

I FINALLY just heard Tattoo on the local radio station. The DJ asked listeners to respond. So after a Green Day song after it, a caller called in and said, "can we sign a petition to not have that song played again? This is the second time I've heard it and its not getting any better.". The DJ went on to say that she's disappointed in the slower pace.

Its funny how cynnacle (spelling) I've become over the past decade, yet still find, deep down inside, my blood boiling a bit when that guy said that. Let's me know I'm still a fan. And its real disappointing that was the reaction.
If it sounds like bull shit, feels like bull shit, and appears to be bull shit, it's probably Eddie talking about his new lead singer being his new brother at a press conference...

What can ya do. The first time I heard Why Can't This Be Love I wished to never hear it again. But in the end Van Hagar was a very respectable band that sold well, but I certainly wasn't going to throw the baby out with the bath water.

The sports guys on the radio today were bagging on it. Then they starting playing old school halen saying why would listen to new when I can listen to old.

I heard it getting bad mouthed twice today by the DJs and callers alike...and rightfully so.

I recall same thing with that song. I foolishly assumed the rest of album was going to be in that vain until I heard "Get Up" and then I said "YEAHHHHHHH!!!!" I wish people would just cool out a bit. "Tattoo" will be tamest song on this album. I'm convinced everything else will kick serious ass.

I could care less what DJ's or casual listeners to VH have to say...good or bad.

DJ here (New York) said it sounds like "Van Halen" .. right? .. but was not sold. He had nothing positive about it. I say it sounds like a DLR solo disc. Ed, where are the songs you promised you had?

As long as I like the song I don't really care what anyone else thinks.

Kim Mitchell here in Toronto on Q107 just did a thing on Tattoo after he played it. He had nothing but good things to say about it and even re-played the solo and made some comments on Eddie's playing-which he praised. Mitchell is a pretty well known Canadian rocker here in the Great White North and he's also a pretty good guitar player. He knows what he's talking about but he said the tune had a great groove, Dave sounded good and in key, and Eddie's playing was very strong...and reminded every one that these guys are in their late 50's and can't always come out of the gate with Unchained or something like that.

I think it's a pretty awesome tune myself and I LOVE the fade out. I'm not sure what people were expecting, and I'm glad VH did give people what they expected. It's a bit different but still familiar. Fuckin VH is back, what's to complain about?

If it's good enough for Akimbo Alogo it's good enough for me.

For what it's worth, i'm a DJ and i love it.
The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.

I don't even bother to listen to classic rock radio in New Zealand. It's probably up by now but after they pulled Pink Floyd Mondays and Led Zeppelin Wednesdays (they played live bootlegs, rarities etc) I just switched off. Its all on youtube anyway.

Wait? whats this thread about? What am I saying?

Oh yeah. I'm sure It's good to hear new VH on the radio. Just take the negative comments in your stride, he says to no one in particular.

106.9 out of Hartford played it and one of the DJ flat out did not like it.

I'm hoping people give the album a chance and not base it off of 1 song.

I'm sure they fuckers are the people who think that it's 1986 all over again and Dave never left. Fuck I wanted so bad to stay off of here all day because I knew this flood of extremely casual 1984 fans would be trashing it. You just know that most of them had their minds made up already before they heard it. Oh well, get on the negativity train casual outsiders, better seats for us. You know what else sucks? I betcha all these bastards are the ones with all the AMEX cards.
