Default Steel Panther steals Eddie's Riff?

Hey guys/gals, our local rock station is playing this new song from a band called Steel Panther entitled "17 Girls in a row". As I'm hearing this song, the guitar riff is ringing in my head and I'm thinking, "I've heard this before. Hmmmmmm...." So, I turned down the stereo, started humming it, and all of a sudden it came to me. This guitar riff is from Van Halen's "Man on a Mission." I'm not sure if it's EXACT, but is sure sounds like it to me. Give it a listen on YouTube and let me know what you all think.

Sounds like the Zakk Wylde version of Man on a Mission.
What with all of the Harmonics...

    Aren't they The ATOMIC PUNKS?

Edit: Maybe just the singer Ralph.
What once upon a time made Van Halen unique in the progression of metal and hard rock (besides Eddie’s prowess as a guitarist) was its sense of fun, its willingness to be not just over the top, but weird.

Well sorta. Ralph and Russ were in the Punks...they're not anymore. Drummer and bass player have nothing to do with the Punks.

"Man On A Mission" is one of my all-time least favorite Van Halen songs.

Yes, Ralph and Russ (mike and satchel in the band) were in the punks. They are all huge VH fans. Ralph especially-list them as his favorite. They are actually an awesome band...funny as hell, but surprised they get AirPlay as most songs are not suitable for radio, even with edits.
Check out "Fat Girl" "Party All Day" and "Let Me Come In"

    They admit they "borrow" riffs

Steel Panther are fucking great. They need to release a live dvd soon.

    Classic stuff.
If you have nothing nice to say about Eddie Van Halen, you're at the right website. - Me (A few years ago)

"People take Van Halen much more seriously than we do" - David Lee Roth (1980's)

"I don't sit on the end of your bed while you're trying to make a living" - David Lee Roth (1988)

"For some reason people love to complain about everything. The internet has made it easy for people to do that. Shut the fuck up and get a life, or show me how good you can do it."- Edward Van Halen

"A lot of people ask me which Van Halen singer was better. You can't compare them. It's like asking which guitarist is better. Nobody is better than anybody. Every player is their own person."-Edward Van Halen

"I do like Eddie Van Halen as a player. He gets it right quite often." -Paul McCartney

It would appear to be the other way around. Trevor's song "Eyes Of Love" is from 1989.

Yeah, no kidding. You know who Steel Panther are right? They're a parody band who dress up like an 80's hair band and do comedy stuff in between each song. The singer is the best Roth tribute band guy in the world, he used to front The Atomic Punks, and the guitarist used to be in that.

On the first album they have a total "Unchained" ripoff, among other things.

The first album is seriously one of the best metal albums to be released in the last 10 or 15 years. The second one has some good stuff on it too, especially "Tiger Woods".

    Check them out.
