Default Do you think the new VH record will push Sammy to do more?

I was talking to my dad about it last night. I think some of Sammy's best solo stuff came out right after VH with Marching To Mars. Do you think that maybe, with this new VH CD coming out, that the next Chickenfoot record will be even more killer than III? I think he does really well writing-wise when "competing" for a lack of better terms. Vocally, and lyrically.

I don't know if he could do much more. I think he's given everything he has.

He's put out many quality solo albums since VHIII. The Chickenfoot stuff, the collaborations... The book... The restaurants... The booze... Charity... I've enjoyed all or most of it.

I'd like to see the guy take a break and enjoy it.

We can split hairs on the quality of his material post-VH, I guess, but name a rock star his age who's been as active the last ten years. Bet you can count them all on one hand. Quality solo records, two of the best collaborative rock records I've heard in a long time.... I don't think we can, or even should, expect more from Sam.

what does Sammy have to do with Van Halen besides the fact that he was once in the band.He is not in a compitition with them. He done alot, and doesn't base what he does on his old bandor he would have done nothing for a long time.

you totally misinterpreted what i said. thats why "competing" is in parenthesis. I also didn't say he based what he does on them because that is blatantly obvious.

I'm well aware of hagar's history after Van Halen, and I am a hagar fan, but lyrically i think his best solo stuff came after van halen. What i mean was, with this new album coming out, will it inspire him to do even better. Believe it or not I'm sure based on the deep content of some of the lyrics on Marching To Mars, that a lot of that stuff was done out of deep built up stuff over the course of his tenure as Van Halen's frontman. Little White Lie is a great example, and a great song. But, in turn, maybe he WILL base it on what gets put out. You never know!

I personally would like to see him take a break too, and really enjoy his life because he has ton a shit-ton.

i would love to see it, but don't think itll ever happen again, but i wish he would make another solo record like Ten13 or Marching to Mars, along with chickenfoot stuff.

Hopefully, he'll wish VH well, put the blinders up and not change a thing because of someone else.

What more does he need to do exactly? Get in a band with great musicians again? He's doing that.

Sam is no longer a member of Van Halen. Anything done by that band will not and should not affect anything that Sam does.

He's attending to other things and is gearing up to tour with his new band for their second world tour.

VH doesnt care about Sam either.

Marching to Mars happened because HE got kicked out. Simple as that.

I agree with the first reply, he can't do anymore.

Personally I would like to see the whole "competition" thing come to an end. They are all way too old for that shit now. Its not like when they were young and hungry and removing one band's flyers off a car windshield only to put their own on there.

Let both entities move on do what they do. Who knows how long VH will go dormant after this run? We know going by past history that Sam will still be doing something, whether or not its Chickenfoot or who knows? But I'd bet that he and Mike will stick together and do something.
'Old Van Halen, when I was in it-classic Van Halen-makes you wanna drink, dance and screw, right? And the new Van Halen encourages you to drink milk, drive a Nissan and have a relationship.' - David Lee Roth.

Two things will happen with VH album.

One it flops, it makes VH3 sound like Fair Warning or both. If that happens, he will be very confident and most likely vocal. If either CF or CF3 outsell it, his ego will get a tremendous boos and rightfully so. However nothing of significance will come out of his music outside maybe a line or two regarding the flop of VH. He will put out what Sammy wants to put out.

If the VH album makes decent numbers or is viewed favorably by fans and critics, well you will see probably the same thing. He may be less vocal cause he doesn't have scoreboard but he will put out music just the same.

None of it has a bearing on CF's or Sammy's future or quality of music.

Here's what will happen, and you can all take this to the bank:

    1. The Vh album will release.
    2. Someone out there working for a music magazine or site will ask Sam a direct question about it.
    3. Sam will answer.
    4. Someone out there with a message board account will read it, and hate it.
    5. That someone will post it here.

    Wash, rinse, repeat.
