    Default Set Lists

I scanned through and didn't see any threads on recent pages for possible set lists, what you'd like to see played, so I thought I'd post my own ideas for what I would love to see on tour this time out. Some of this is wish fullfillment (I don't think they've played In A Simple Rhyme since the club days but I love the song and always wanted to hear it live), some is just to screw around with the "expected" song schedule of a VH concert (opening with Jump or Unchained and closing with Jump) and I've also left holes in the setlist for at least 6 or 7 of the new songs to be played as well. I don't need another best of tour. Here's what I'd love to see this time out. How about you?

I had a bizarre dream that Dave stepped behind a piano and told the story of how "Unchained" was born. They played half of it and stepped off-stage, the show was over.

Not sure what the rest of the setlist was.

I say you take the 2007 set list and remove three to four songs. Add three to four new songs from the album and there you go. Unfortunately the songs that would be removed would be taken from the following

Little Guitars, I'm the One, Atomic Punk, Somebody Get Me a Doctor, So This Is Love and Romeo Delight.

I doubt any of the other songs played in 2007 will be taken out of the rotation.

Never understood these types of threads. Every song in the catalog gets pulled out and shuffled around in a different order.

Just play a lot of new songs please.

    Agreed.

Setlist threads end up being disappointing. Personally for a nostalgia tour, I thought they hit the spot with the setlist in 2007/08. If there's one thing VH has never done wrong, it's choose the songs for the live set. I expect more of the same this time around.

However, at least five new songs. If you're gonna release a new album, be proud enough of it to legitimately support it. If we get two songs from the new disc, then it's a rip-off as far as I'm concerned.

Clearly certain songs won't be pulled from the set list (i.e. "Jump") but they do need to make sure that the set oder is changed up from the 2007/2008 tour.

Ultimately I hope they play at least 4 songs from the new CD along with "Me Wise Magic" and maybe throw in a Dave solo era cover song like "Tobacco Road" the rest could be whatever they want in a different order than 2007/2008.

I would love to see "Secrets" make the set list.

If somehow Hang 'Em High and Me Wise Magic made it in the setlist I couldn't care less what the rest of it was.

No way in hell they play "Me Wise Magic." I'm sure the set will be very similar to 2007/8 minus some of the more obscure bits like "Little Dreamer" and "Atomic Punk." Like Zach said, I want around 5 new songs, and maybe give us a hidden gem or two like "Hear About It Later" or "Drop Dead Legs."

Apologies to those who don't like this kind of thread. It's most certainly a wish list on my part and I thought others might like to post their own wish lists. You're probably correct that very little will change in the set list (Certainly, I'd be pissed if Unchained, Panama and Jump weren't there), but still, I'd love to see them move forward and change up the setlist, including some of these faves on and off at different shows.

You don't think it'd be complete bullshit if they kept the same exact setlist but swapped two or three old songs for new ones?

That'd be so incredibly lame on Van Halen's part. It'd be lame if ANY band did that.

I was under the impression that the last two tours had a pretty set setlist that rarely changed?

He's saying that all that happens in these threads are taking a selection of songs and shifting them in different places.
