Default New VH and the lack of MA's background vocals on the new album

While it may be easy to have Wolf, Eddie or a session player play the bass parts, what about Michael Anthony's background vocals? While I enjoyed Dave's solo albums, one thing that I noticed is that even a very good song like "Shyboy" could have sounded better with Mike there. There were attempts at using MA-like harmonies on songs like "Yankee Rose" and "Knucklebones," but it just wasn't the same.

Hopefully VH know this and will act accordingly. Do you think they used someone else to provide those background vocals to approximate Mike's harmonies, or will they somehow try to circumvent the issue all together? I guess that we will know in 12 days.

Axl Rose will sing them and will sing them better than Mike himself

Seriously, it won't sound the same but CF backgrounds IMO don't sound like VH either. Eddie isn't there underneath Mike and Satch sings in the key of B Quiet. Sure Mike gets all the credit for the trademark VH harms but there was also Dave, Eddie and Sammy in there too.

Backgrounds are the sum of all parts just like the music.

It will be different sounding but with studio magic it probably won't be too far off.

Who cares. MA always got entirely too much credit for backing vocals when his job was to be a bassist. Anyone focused 100% on singing is spending 0% on playing bass. As a bassist, MA made Gene Simmons look talented. If you're listening to Van Halen (or going to see them live) for the bass parts, I'm sorry to hear it.

Pretend that classic Van Halen was a quiche:

    Eddie-The eggs
    Dave-The Cream
Mike Anthony's background singing-the cheese--maybe not the first thing that you think of when you think quiche, but it is an important ingredient.

So the new VH album won't have Hagar's voice on it or Mike's background singing on it.....I guess this won't sound like a ChickenFoot album then...

I guess singing and playing an instrument are mutually exclusive actions? Credability alert! His bass sounds good on in CF, as do his vox. Amazing what you hear when the volume slider is engaged.

Is it hard to go through life being clueless?

This is without a doubt one of the most ill-informed stupid things I've read in a while.

Though it was always nice having Mikey around. Those bass solos were perfect opps to hit the restroom or grab a refill.
