Default Chickenfoot II - Rolling Stone

There's a post on Chickenfoot's Facebook page about an announcement coming this morning at Rolling Stone about "Chickenfoot II"...

While I like how Sammy talks to the fans, I have lost a lot of respect for him over the years. To say that Joe playing Eddie's parts would be degrading...STFU. Keep in mind why you really are playing clubs.

I sometimes wonder what Joe thinks when Sammy opens up his mouth. Who would have thought that four albums are full of degrading riffs, solos and songs.

    Well Sammy of course.

Correct. Actually IMO if CF plays some VH songs, those will be degraded. Yes there's MA and Hagar, but it will never sound the way those songs are supposed to sound. And don't give the "Satriani could play circles around Ed" shit. Maybe he could execute them but he never will have the sound, feel of EVH.

It's a shame Hagar thinks the way he does! He cannot stop talking about VH; wonder if he is so bitter and missed them that much at the same time!

In real Chickenfoot news, we recently spoke to Sammy Hagar about the bands plans for 2013. "We want to play arenas and we want to play some big festivals in the summer," he says. "But we don't want to be learning in front of 70,000 fans, so that's why we did this club tour this year." Despite the plans to move on to big venues, Hagar rules out the possibility of adding Van Halen songs into the setlist. "Joe doesn’t need to be playing Eddie’s parts," he says. "That would be degrading, and we aren't that kind of band."

Sam actually makes a good point here. I'm sure all the Ed ass kissers would be nothing but sunshine and compliments if Joe and CF as a whole even attempted to do a VH song. That would be degrading, but Sam's comment will only be taken one way... the obvious way... that Van Halen tunes are below them now. Ha Ha Ha! gotta love it.

...waiting for this to be posted in VH Main and misunderstood... just waiting.

I'm convinced now that Chad is Will Ferrell.

You never see them both together, do ya?

Naw....they'd piss and moan about CF not doing their OWN material (which as we all know, they are avoiding all VH material) and would simply dismiss Satch as a crappy player, pedophile, serial killer, what have you.

Solution - don't do any VH material, there are plenty of songs from Sammy's solo and Montrose they can play. But if they do VH songs, I'll look at it like when the Wabos play VH. Vic isn't Eddie, but he plays the songs and gives them his different touch. I would think Satch would do the same thing, but a million times better than Vic.

Do you mean played at the height of drunkeness? I love Ed, we all do, but we've all seen the videos on You Tube or him live in concert when he is "off". I think Joe would do just fine.

No one wants to see them playing VH songs, anyway. That shit's old news and the new stuff they're cranking out is great and what we want to hear.

Sammy did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.
Michael did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.

You honestly think that if people see Chickenfoot, nobody wants to hear them play a version of Poundcake or Good Enough?

Seriously you must be high if you think fans of Chickenfoot don't want to hear Van Hagar being done. That would be like saying fans of the David Lee Roth solo album don't want him to tear into Hot for Teacher. Do people at Sammy solo shows scream out "fuck playing Van Halen, give me Fast Times At Ridgemont High."

Not saying they have to fill half the set list with Van Hagar or Sammy solo stuff but one or two songs isn't selling out their integrity.

This would be like something Eddymon would say about Van Halen

Agree. Why would it be ok to play Montrose or cover songs but no VH? Sure, the die hard CF fans probably don't want to hear those VH songs but I gurantee you the casual fan will. It's alright for The Wabos but not CF? Using Sam's logic then, playing Foxy Lady or Montrose should be degrading to Joe as well.
