Default Beach Boy confirms it was them not VH

    http://jam.canoe.ca/Music/2011/12/12...enn-story.html

Former Beach Boys star Al Jardine has revealed his band was supposed to be the subject of the Grammy Awards' big reunion announcement last month and he has no idea why the major news wasn't part of the nominations party.

Grammy bosses hinted they'd be breaking a big scoop during the Grammy Nominations Concert Live event in Los Angeles and many experts predicted the announcement would revolve around a Van Halen performance at the awards show in February but there was no bombshell.

Even bosses apologized, stating, "In the world of creativity, everything is fluid. In the process of discussions that we had been having with an expectation that perhaps we would be at a point tonight where the artist involved and we, moving forward, would be ready to announce (a reunion), they weren't quite at that point."

And now Jardine was revealed the big announcement was supposed to revolve around a full Beach Boys reunion at the Grammy Awards.

He tells Rolling Stone, "I thought the Grammys might make the announcement. I don't know what happened... There will be a surprise at the Grammys. We'll do something really exciting... It's going to be a very big operation."

Jardine tells the publication the original Beach Boys have booked recording studio time this month and he and his old bandmates appear to have put their past differences behind them.

A band also made of brothers, I guess that's how the confusion happened. Wilson, Van Halen, potaytoes, potatoes...

And they probably have a song called "Dance The Night Away" on their next record. So hard to tell them apart!

    4. In addition to Mike and Brian, Al Jardine (cousin) and Brian Johnston, who wasn't an original member, but joined in '65.

Two Wilson brothers are gone. Dennis drowned, and Carl died a couple of years ago (cancer, I think).

edit: just looked it up, Carl died in '98. Didn't seem like that long ago.

    - Mike Love & Bruce Johnston are alive and have been touring as "the Beach Boys" with several auxiliary musicians since the late 1990's. John Stamos (of all people) occasionally guests with them.
    - Brian Wilson is alive and has been recording & touring with his solo band for the past several years.
    - Al Jardine is alive and has been recording & touring with his solo band since he was dropped from the Love/Johnston Beach Boys line-up in 1998 (sort of a Michael Anthony-esque situation).
    - Carl Wilson died of cancer in 1998.
    - Dennis Wilson drowned in 1983.
    - early member David Marks is alive and has been recording & touring solo for a long time.

Either way, it's not a "real" Beach Boys reunion - merely a reunion of surviving members ;o
So, I've seen these guys live:
    June 25, 1993 - Eddie/Alex/Mike/Sammy @ Pine Knob Music Theatre - Clarkston, MI
    Sept 03, 1998 - Eddie/Alex/Mike/Gary @ Pine Knob Music Theatre - Clarkston, MI
July 11, 2004 - Eddie/Alex/Mike/Sammy @ The Palace of Auburn Hills - Auburn Hills, MI
Oct 22, 2007 - Eddie/Alex/Wolfgang/Dave @ The Palace of Auburn Hills - Auburn Hills, MI

Beach Boys = That infamous cousin who is blamed after a superstar athelete gets busted with drugs in his possesion.

I think Pretty much, Brian Wilson IS The Beachboys. People make fun of them, but they are Americana, a big part of the soundtrack of the 60's.

    I always liked this song.

Didn't anyone tell him he can't be in two bands (AD/DC & The Beach Boys)?
We now know what happened: Ed heard about it and had him kicked out of the band, The Beach Boys delayed their announcement while they searched for a replacement!

    According to Wikipedia:
He is also proficient at the drums, keyboards, guitar, bass and various percussion instruments. In 1990, he played drums and recorded with The Beach Boys on the title track of the comedy Problem Child. He later appeared singing lead vocals on the song "Forever" (written by Dennis Wilson) on their 1992 album Summer in Paradise. He can also be seen playing drums on the video for "Kokomo." Stamos also played in the band The Signals. He continues to tour with The Beach Boys (usually as a drummer), appearing with them on the March 30, 2010 episode of ABC's Dancing With The Stars. In that appearance, Stamos played drums, congos, and guitar. Stamos toured with the Beach Boys in the spring of 2010, including an appearance at Fort Myers, Florida.[10] On May 26, 2011, the Terri Schiavo Life and Hope Network in St. Petersburg, Florida, announced that Stamos would join the Beach Boys for its second annual Terri Schiavo Life and Hope Concert in Kettering, Ohio, near Dayton, on June 12.[11] Since the 1990s, Stamos has regularly performed with The Beach Boys during their summer tours, playing drums and guitar, and singing some of their hit songs such as "Forever"[citation needed]. In June 2011, Stamos performed with The Beach Boys at a benefit concert for the Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network.[15]
