Just made my head check appointment for Friday morning. Probably going to miss a half day of work because of it and I can't eat anything for twelve hours before.

I think once this thing gets rolling (if it ever does). it will be done the right way. We just have to get to that point in time.

According to Wiki, some pretty decent talent over the years has been on the label. A lot of it has more of an urban/industrial beat to it. When you scroll down their roster it looks like more modern hip acts. I don't see any "Journey" or "REO Speedwagon" or things like that. Very hip label IMO.

Interesting Trent Reznor quote on there -that he was mad at the label for charging more for their stuff because the "hard core fans will pay anything" makes me wonder what kind of crazy pricing VH will do.

We have no idea what the deal with interscope is - just a photo so far and nothing on the band or interscope websites.

I guess we'll have to wait for the music to see how modern or hip it is. Interscope obviously views them and their music in a different light so they've seen or heard something that they like and think they can market.

In an interesting twist of irony, one of the first acts signed to Interscope in 1990 was The Storm........whose members were comprised of Gregg Rolie, Ross Valory, Steve Smith, and a Steve Perry sound-alike.

Then the label decided to go gangsta.

I'm a little surprised Interscope hasn't added them to their website nor even make some sort of press release for signing VH.

Typical for the band not to say a damn thing... totally expected.

As usual... it makes folks wonder if there's a hitch or a shoe that hasn't been dropped or thrown...

Maybe it's a new industry precedent... Record label signing with a non-disclosure clause.

Arguably, Van Halen (more so in Roth years) has never been "modern" or "hip" according to musical trends of the time. They burst on to scene at height of disco craze and when punk/new wave was beginning to gain traction. By 1984, they were at top of their fame (w/ Roth) but synth pop was the rule of the day. Warner Bros. was probably not willing to invest much marketing muscle behind a band that done little for them over past 13 years. Not too concerned with move to Interscope. If anything, working with new "hip" label will be good for them because they'll be kicking them in the ass all the time. Warner likely gave up on them.
