First off, Van Halen is in the process of getting new management. This is good news, primarily because the band will continue rather than fold. Once the mgmt. is in place VH will then decide which direction the band will go - i.e. singer, etc. I'm told it should take 3-4 months to decide on who will manage the band.
Also, Guitar World editors attended the NAMM convention last weekend - that is where the new interview with Eddie was supposed to take place but due to various reasons it did not. For one thing Eddie felt pressured by the people at Peavey to attend the convention. He felt he had a gun to his head and was not a happy camper. Also due to the shape he was in they felt an interview was impossible at that time. The good news is they will try for the interview again in about a month.
And I spoke with Sammy Hagar's agent at Evolution Talent Agency. I asked if the rumour was true that Sammy was working with Van Halen again. He said, "No, there is absolutely nothing going on between Sammy and Van Halen."
Plus, the "Planet Us" project is on hold but still a go. No reason was given. And yes Sammy will tour with Skynyrd this summer. The proposed project with Zakk & Dimebag is a no go. GW editor said that the 3 of them on tour would be suicide for Eddie. That's all. Please do not e-mail me with questions. I've told you absolutely everything I know. I will e-mail Brett with names and numbers of people I've been in contact with should he choose to verify this. Thanks, Todd

Forgot to mention, the information regarding Van Halen looking for new management was given to me by editors at Guitar World magazine.

I gotta say, this is the first time I've seen that. Pretty good way to introduce a rumor. Thanks for passing it on, whether the people that told you that know anything or not.

Thanks for the info. However, supposing that new management is found, exactly what then? They have no singer, and EVH seems to be more interested in cello and piano than guitar. How are hardcore VH fans gonna like a non guitar oriented Van Halen?

EVH: Definitely. Playing guitar was my sanctuary. It was the one place I could go to if I got fucked around by a girlfriend, or anyone else, for that matter. It still is. If there’s something I can’t deal with, I can just spend hours playing. It’s a God-given gift – I certainly don’t know where the ideas come from. They’re obviously given to you, and you have to keep your fingers moving and your mind quiet. I try my best to not think about thinking, so I can just let it flow. Because when I start thinking, forget it. <br />So....why he isn't playing guitar ? ? ?

Not doubting the story, but isn't the interview going to be in the MARCH issue?
Monthly magazines generally come out almost a monthe before the "printed" month which would put this issue in the early half of February.
The interview was supposed to happen at NAMM if you are correct, but didn't. Its now Jan. 25th and I would think that the whole magazine layout would be done by now. Which would mean no new Eddie interview. They seem to be cutting it close if your story is true. Unless its going to be in the APRIL issue.

Eddie wrote several guitar oriented songs on the piano and then translated them to the guitar...Unchained and Hear About It Later for instance...so hardcore VH fans may love it.

BTW, thanks for the info and I hope it is true. I also hope for a new fourth lead singer. I don't think Dave or Sammy is the answer.

...the idea of putting the great edward vh on tour with zakk wilde and dimebag simply made no sense - where's the synergy in that obscure combination?...glad that one's put to rest...
