    Default Moving on up......

Just like George and Weezy, looks like Eddie is moving on up according to Rolling Stone.

    http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/454123.../#.Tsz9hbLNltM

Anyway still too low at number 8 but better than 72 or whatever it was. Looks like Eddie contributed to the poll.

I think the reason Ed went from 72nd to 8th is because they have a new album coming out and Interscope Records spends money advertising with them...

Be happy, everyone... At least Ed is now ahead of Cobain...

I just don't understand Jeff Beck. He isn't as prolific or groundbreaking as the others. Must just be me, I just don't get him at all. The rest on the list make perfect sense.

Actually IMO Beck is THE most groundbreaking of all of those guys with the exception of Hendrix & EVH. Most of what Beck does is sometimes bordering on weird, definitely groundbreaking

I think if it's your personal preference, you could justify Hendrix, Page and Beck being above Eddie. They wouldn't be for me but you could make a case for them I guess.

No way you can justify Clapton, Richards, BB King or Chuck Berry being above EVH.

8 is much better than 72! Maybe RS was trying to wake Eddie out of hybernation.

Ed has done more for guitar. Still gets old seeing Hendrix number one EVERY time, every poll. It's like saying Bonham is better than Buddy Rich.

So terribly subjective to rank music and art. Me and my friends ranked our favorite players in like 7th grade, and even then I sensed something pointless about it.

If you think Eddie is the best and belongs at the top of the list, then that list is all that matters. I'll never understand these stupid lists where people need say "so and so" should be at # whatever over "who's it's face" but "thingamabob" doesn't belong at all.

Put Eddie at #1 and argue who should be there instead... that would make more sense around here... wouldn't it?

at the end of the day, all that should matter to me is my thoughts on this subject. as long as i'm on this planet, i'll fully believe that there has never been a more fluid, innovative and better-sounding guitar player alive. i have to admit though that it baffles me that Ed never tops some of these lists. i'll be arguing on his behalf, whether he gives a shit or not, as long as i'm around. Mean Street intro, Eruption, Cathedral, Spanish Fly, Ice Cream Man solo; yeah, i think he's the best.
