Default Michelle Obama Booed at NASCAR Event

Michelle Obama, Dr. Jill Biden Draw Boos at NASCAR Event

First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden were grand marshals at today’s NASCAR season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway, appearing as part of their charitable campaign to support military veterans and their families.

But their benign, bipartisan cause wasn’t enough to prevent public fallout from the nation’s polarized political climate as they were introduced before the crowd.

ESPN video from the event documented loud boos from some in the stands as the announcer named Obama and Biden, seconds before they delivered the “most famous words in motorsports,” telling drivers to start their engines.

Yeah, kinda surprises me. You'd think that grown adults would have the manners and respect for people trying to help military families.

I would never have booed Laura Bush just because I disapproved of her husband's presidency. What a bunch of rectal ports.

Should she have been booed cause of her charity cause? No but chances are 95% of the people there probably had no idea why she was there. Not sure if you have ever been to a Nascar event but there are two reasons why people go. To watch cars make left turns and to get seriously fucked up on alcohol.

So the vast majority of people probably just heard the part about who was appearing. Think about if you are at a football game and they bring out various people before hand. You don't pay attention to anything they are saying but you do know why they are. Same thing probably happened here.

She and her husband are not popular with the Nascar demographic so she was booed. Yes it's not polite considering why they were there but I can't really fault the people for what they did. Hell LeJudas James is going to be coming here to Akron for a charity basketball game on December 1st with her husband Mr Wade, their son Bosh and others. It's for charity but I would boo the shit out of him if I decided to go. What he is doing is good for the community but he is still a piece of shit.

Anyway just because she is married to our president doesn't mean that I have to like or respect her. I would say the same of Laura Bush, Hillary, that man Bush sr married and Nancy. When your significant other goes into politics, you have to take the good and the bad. Free trips to Africa are balanced out by being booed at Nascar events.

Says way more about that crowd than it does about Michelle Obama.

No worries though. This will just inspire me to do something for military families this holiday. If anyone is on the Links in currently involved in such a thing, let me know how I can help.

Although I do not agree with the booing of the charity, I will say that NASCAR and its fans have been very supportive of all charities over the years, and particularly supportive of the military. Give Victory Junction a google and that's the smallest part of it.

That said, I think its generally a bad idea for anyone involved in politics to be involved in sporting events, especially if its for a charity. Bring in some celebrity, the message is far less likely to get lost that way.

NASCAR is only occasionally interesting. Most of the time it's so repetitive that it's hard to watch for any length of time. I gave it too seasons, but I can only end up being interested when it reaches it's peak of hype. Like the final few races of the chase the last couple of weeks.

Really, a bunch of drunk rednecks boo'd Michelle Obama?

    I'm shocked....
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Rush Limbaugh condemns, criticizes and otherwise lambastes many things, as his radio listeners know.

But Michelle Obama seems to have become a target for particularly personal attacks from the conservative radio talk-show host. First, he called out the first lady on her weight; now he says she's guilty of "uppity-ism."

Cracking on Obama's waistline (and nicknaming her Moochelle) was offensive and personal enough. But "uppity-ism"? That phrase -- uttered on his Monday's edition of his show -- won't sit well with some Americans, particularly African Americans.

Historically, "uppity" was considered a code word for blacks whom white people perceived as trying to rise above their station in life.

Does anyone actually still pay attention to this buffoon? And he is making weight jokes? Dear Lord, look in the mirror Rush.
