Are Van Halen doing this for the right reasons ?

So, not to cause a shit storm or anything, but I can't help but wonder if the guys are doing this for the right reasons ? Kenny Aronoff talked about their being two 'camps' in VHworld and that makes me wonder if they're doing this because:

    - Of the $$'s
    - WE (the fans) have pushed them into it
    - They want to go out on a high and prove they still have it

I guess we'll never know as the band is more secret than MI5, but hey, just my thoughts on a slow sunday afternoon.

    Out.
Does the noise in my head bother you ?

It doesn't really matter to me as long as the music and tour are good.

Does it really matter "why" ?

Almost every band has two "camps". Do you think Ozzy isn't going to look out for his own best interests when he starts up with Sabbath again ? Richards/Jagger, Tyler/Perry, Hetfield/Ulrich...the list goes on and on.

Hell, VH has had two camps since FUCK. If Hagar and Mike were still in the band, there would still be two camps.

Big picture, really, is it really that important to you?

VH with Dave ('78-'84) - The best years....the "real" VH.
VH with Sam ('86-'96) - Incredible era....."We have renamed this town 'New Halen!'.
VH with Gary ('98) - Fucking disaster. WTF was that??
VH with Wolf/Dave ('12-'15) - Amazing comeback. Smokin' album and tours.

If they are doing it for the wrong reasons, I will still have one hell of a time at the show. My bet is the songs won't suck either on the new CD, but I could be wrong. If Ed pulls another "How Many Say I?", I may say that I wish they never released a new album.
    Right here I say....

The days of the 'brotherhood' of van halen that we all loved is gone. But that doesn't mean we can't enjoy the new music and tour.

    1) if they weren't being paid a lot of money they wouldn't do it
    2) if "the fans" had full say this would have happened years ago and with a different bass player. That said if we weren't willing to support this it wouldn't happen (see point 1).
    3) maybe a part of it but not nearly as important as other factors (see point 1).

When's the last time that a reunited band said "yeah you dumb fucks we need the money that's why we're doing this"? But that's usually the reason. The closest I've ever seen to that was when Gary and Nuno were on the The Metal Show and when asked why now for a reunion they responded "we ran out of money". They were joking but there's truth in that for all of these bands.

But I don't care - if the album is good I'll be happy. If the show is good I'll be happy. That's all that is ever mattered to me with this band. I don't understand why others expect more. I like my job but if they ever stop paying me then they shouldn't expect me in the office.

Doubt this will be the final cd and tour as interscope will likely of signed them on a multi album deal.

I don't understand the point of this thread. Why does any band put out a new album?? There are a million reasons....for themselves, for the money, for the record company, for the fans, whatever. What makes VH any different??

Quite frankly, if the music is good I don't really care what reason is. At some level, I think they're doing it for the money. At some level, I'm even sure there is friction between Dave and the band. I don't really think it matters to fans as long as we get quality product. I'm actually praying that there is friction because as we later learned - that's what brought forth all the great music on those first 6 albums.

Fact: 95% of all bands are started to get pussy. Yes, it's a fact. Look it up.

With bands being formed with such integrity, it's blasphemous that they would consider doing this just for the money.

CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.
