Default The day of release--how will you be planing to spend the day? (and the week prior)

A brand new VH album is something to celebrate and enjoy, especially after so many years or uncertainty.

    Here is my game-plan:

    1. I will NOT listen to any clips that are released online. I want it to be like it was before the internet. I want to go to the store, pick up the album, play it and enjoy. So no spoilers.

    2. The week before the release I would like to re-listen to all eleven VH albums and Dave's six solo albums.

    3. On the actual day that the album is released I will take the day off from work. I'll go jogging in the morning and then head straight to my local store at 10:00 am, as soon as they open.

    4. Head home and spend maybe three or four hours listening to it.

    5. Head to the VHLinks/Amazon to read what others think.

    6. Go out to dinner to celebrate

    7. Listen to the album a few more times before I go to sleep.

    Let's see:

    I'll wake up.

I'll eat a peanut butter sandwich or three.

I'll go to work and then class.

    I'll grab some dinner.

    I'll do homework and sleep.

And if I remember or care, I'll find a way to [insert distribution retailer here].

Sadly, I'm not going to celebrate this release like I would have four, five years ago. I'll take it for what it's worth and probably won't be in too much of a rush to pick it up.

    Here is my plan

Like you Im going to sequester myself from the internet and the radio.(unlikely our stations would play it anyway)

Im going to spend the day before listening to all of the Van Halen albums......sans Van Halen 3 and no Roth Solo stuff. During that time I will be playing my guitar along with as many songs as I can. Cool part is my son is going to join me. I paid for guitar lessons for him for 7 yrs. He was 11 when we heard Van Halen on the radio driving to lunch. He was hooked instantly.

Day of album release Im going to turn every light in the house off, close the drapes find a comforatble chair, turn off the phones and enjoy a few hours of music from my favorite band.

My side of the camp and I will be busy finding new and exciting places to plank. Planking is cool.

Sammy did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.
Michael did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.

Now the new David-Lee-Roth-Van Halen album, “Tokyo Dome In Concert,” is available for purchase, and it’s super, super, super, super, super, super, crazy bad. - Doug Elfman

I remember the day that Balance was released. I went to see Star Trek Generations and then bought it at Tower Records.

When VH3 was released I took the day off of school (I was a senior in high school) and bought a tape and CD at HMV. The night before I was so excited I barley slept.

Yeah, at 32, I'm not as excited and my life is no longer so preoccupied thinking about Van Halen. Still, I plan on making the release date a mini holiday and would like to be in that high-school/youthful mindset about my favorite band for 24 hours.

As with CF, I will listen first and then decide if the set is worth my hard earned cashola.

I will probably not listen to the "six-pack" or even the Hagar era for that matter because I feel reasonably certain that the new material will sound waaaaay fuckin different.

I'll probably just pre-order it and wait for it to come in the mail. Yee Haw Yip Yip!

Quite simply, I am numb from the wasted years of waiting and really don't feel much at all for this release.

What? Why am I here then?... why don't you just mind your own business.

I plan on ragging on Van Halen, up to the point I hear the 1st song, then I will fall in love with them again, (I hope). Then, I will think ahead into the future, about the time the tour ends and how we won't being hearing from them for another 10-15 years, and I will get mad again. Then, I will go to the kitchen and load the dishwasher!

I might also cook ribs or something later that day!

Get up, try to get some morning sex.
Put the cream on banana, butter on the biscuit, honey do my melon.

Go to work, gripe about being at work.
go home, eat dinner, watch some tv, try to get some night sex.

Go to sleep, dream of me and Jennifer Aniston alone on a beach.
Wake up with wood and do it all over again.

Somewhere in the course of the days though I will come here and read about more bitching and moaning abut Mike not being involved.
