Default My latest project, Kramer Focus 3000

Alright I'm bored as shit and I haven't been happy with my focus 3000 since I put a Dimarzio PAF pro in the thing plus my fiance bought me the blue hornet(Pacer Imperial). So I decided to give it a complete overhaul. I'm changing the pickup to a Guitar fetish VEH in the bridge, changing the rusted and corroded floyd posts, putting a 37mm big block on the floyd, changing the floyd arm(almost 30 years on the original) and to cap it off I'm going to attenpt my first floyd setup.

I was gonna sell the guitar because I was so unhappy with it until my fiance smacked the shit out of me and told me I would regret it. See this was my first guitar. I've had it since 1988. So I'm gonna see if I can bring her back to life. I ruined it when I took the pickup I had in it in 1990 out and I can't remember what it was.

    Here's my canvas:

Ive owned a few Kramer 3000's over the years.
    Great guitars!

Have also owned 2000's and a few 1000's.

My first cool guitar was a Kramer focus 1000, still have it.
Would never sell that one, have owned it since 1989.
    Same color as yours.

Is it just me, or did Kramer do a LOT of guitars in the candy red? Seems I see this color for a Kramer more than any other...? Anyways, sweet Kramer, nonetheless.
Eddie must think I'm a BOZO to want to drop THAT much on one of his new Charvel Guitars!

You're right. I've had 3 Kramer Focus 1000's, and they were all candy red.
I think they were also offered in black, but I've never seen one in person.
    Nice color though.

I'm toying with the notion of putting titanium floyd string blocks in this. Anyone have any experience with these?

I just got a 37mm one from FloydUpgrades along with a brass claw. I haven't installed it on my Kramer yet because I am still doing some finish work on the guitar. When I get it installed I'll post some of my impressions. I've always used the standard block on my circa 1984-85 old Floyd Rose and it never quite got a good enough tone or feel for me.

I'm really curious about the $800 titanium Floyd saddles that Steve Stevens got from FloydUpgrades...I'll probably never get them, but I wonder if it really makes that much of a difference.

I know jimi has tried every Floyd known to man, including the all titanium Floyd...I would suggest checking his posts to get the lowdown. I read everything he had to say on Floyds before I bought my titanium block...

I just bought the block inserts from Floyd upgrades. Not the saddles. If I was gonna do that I'd just buy the titanium Floyd. I got a brass Floyd block I'm gonna put in it.

WOW! Were you having problems with the standard string blocks? Seems kind of expensive - $40.

Mitchel (Axcessories) seems to have decent prices on original FR parts:

Well found out the hard way you can't put a 37mm floyd block on it.

I would take it to a tech. There is no reason why the 37mm block should not work. A tech can make it work generally...

Its the block itself. The holres aren't offset so the springs can fit it. Design flaw. The seller took it back and I ordered a 42mm.

I always hated this red color.
But owned 3 or 4 Kramers in the color.
I also owned a couple black ones and a couple off white or cream ones.

The cream ones were my favorite colors.

I believe the new logo Floyd Rose brass blocks have the holes in the center. I thought the same thing.

So it was just a fluke of the manufacturing process for that particular block. Did you buy it from eBay? I've never heard of a problem with any of the blocks from FloydUpgrades...

It was a Floyd rose block. Holes weren't offset.
