Default Your personal top ten Movies for GUYS

    My list......

    1. GoodFellas - Scorcese, DeNiro, Pesce.....how the fuck can you go wrong? Best gangster flick ever made for my money. You knew who was gonna get whacked before they got whacked and it still blew you away.

    2. Tombstone - Kurt Russell slapping the crap outta Billy Bob Thornton alone makes the movie. Val Kilmer's acting peak.

    3. Die Hard - The first and best. Only Bruce Willis could make a wife-beater the baddest-ass thing to wear when kicking German armed-robber ass.

    4. The Empire Strikes Back - Vader choking incompetent lackeys, Billy Dee Williams as....well, Billy Dee Williams, and Boba Fett. Done.

    5. Jaws - "Cage goes in the water....you go in the water....shark's in the water....our shark."

    6. 48 Hours - Best buddy-action flick ever made.

    7. Kelly's Heroes - Clint Eastwood, Telly Salvalas, Donald Sutherland and Don Rickles plotting to rob a Nazi-guarded bank in WWII. Manly.

    8. The Thing - John Carpenter's finest and scariest creation to this day. Pretty much invented "WTF".

    9. Escape From New York - John Carpenter's second finest creation.

    10. Force Ten from Navarone - Harrison Ford, Robert Shaw, and Apollo Fucking Creed go behind enemy lines to blow up a dam and wash a bunch of Nazi's away. You have a vagina if you don't like this flick.

Wow tough....OK. These are in no order.

    1. Goodfellas (nothing more to be said on this, one of the great movies period)
    2. Die Hard (nothing beats the first one)
    3. Lethal Weapon I or II (despite the fact Mel Gibson is a piece of shit anti-semite)
    4. Shawshank Redemption (one of my favorite movies)
    5. Raiders of the Lost Ark (of course)
    6. The Fast & The Furious or Fast Five (the other movies suck)
    7. Caddyshack (STILL fucking funny!!)
    8. Terminator (played out but still great)
    9. Delta Force (I don't normally like Chuck Norris movies but always liked this one)
    10. The Driver (if you've never seen this movie, you should. Some INCREDIBLE car chase scenes done with actual stunt driving, not CGI crap. Stars Ryan O'Neal from 1978. Very cool movie IMO.)

LL - Love 5 of your first 6. No way "Empire" makes any of my lists but that's just me.

I'll put "Swingers" in that spot. The dialogue in that movie is top notch guy stuff.

Edit: Shawshank without a doubt too.

Shawshank is my favorite all-time flick, but I can't really call it a guy flick.

Now if Andy actually got the upper hand on Boggs and The Sisters and shanked the whole lot of them, that would've been a different fuckin story.

....and yes, I remember what Hadley did to Boggs.

    I don't know I think it's a guy movie. It's a buddy movie in the end.

True, but for me a "guy" flick makes you wanna start a fight. Shawshank doesn't make me wanna fight. It gives me hope and makes me feel good about friendship and shit.

GoodFellas, for example, made me wanna stomp faces (the feeling was restricted to annoying co-workers and former bosses....for the record).

hmm...yeah, I see the point about shank, but it's basically the beginning of the bromance movies.

Gotta think about taking out Tin Cup from mine, or maybe happy gilmore, and putting in Apocalypse Now.

-I know I'm in the minority, but I prefer Temple of Doom from the Indy Jones series as it isn't as light heated as the others. Crusade has my favorite intro though... But it's always tough to watch River Phoenix because of what he might have been. It gets a little boring in between the beginning and the appearance of Sean Connery. The 4th one.... eh... It's watchable enough but the monkey's, gophers and the tree branch scene make me cringe.

-Terminator below Fast and the Furious... eh.... The Terminator movies will always be better than anything Vin Diesel and Paul Walker contribute to movies. The Fast and the Furious movies are slick and I guess I understand their appeal to people, but I don't think they'll stand up. Just a personal opinion.

-Sadly, you're right in that Gibson is a doucher. I actually like the first 3 movies even though the 3rd starts to feel redundant. But I actually think the 2nd one is the best of the series. It was a movie my sister took me to to try and help cheer me up after my mom and brother's death.

-The first Die Hard is the best. The 4th is the only one that tries to add to the character... But it goes off the rails about 2/3 into the movie... It goes full blown Michael Bay. Once it did that, it made it almost unwatchable for me.

-The Delta Force is a strange movie. Some parts are pure cheeseball, but some of it's really series. Robert Forrester was insane. If he didn't look like Tom Selleck so much in the movie it would have helped his credibility as a villain just a tad more. I actually like a lot of Chuck Norris stuff other than the Mission in Action movies. Those were kinda dull.

It's nice that someone lists The Driver. Between 1974-1987 Walter Hill made some good films. Hard Times, The Driver, The Warriors, 48 Hrs, Southern Comfort, Brewster's Million, Crossroads and Extreme Prejudice. All good to decent films IMO.

My list has no order as I said when I posted it.

I can't stand Temple of Doom...I hate Kate Capshaw and that little kid...they ruined that movie for me.

I just recently actually saw the Fast and Furious movies, I never saw any of them until I heard Fast Five was good. I'm a car guy, so I like car movies. I realize they're not the greatest things ever, but I did enjoy the first movie and the most recent one.

I always find myself watching Delta Force when it's on. Totally terrible acting and cheesy shit, but lots of shit gets blown up, and killing terrorists is always good.

I would say the second Lethal Weapon is better, yes. The third is OK, but like you said, the formula gets a bit stale. The 4th one sucks!

Cool that you've heard of the Driver, I know most people haven't. I don't know that it's really a "guy" movie but it has some really cool chase scenes, not a lot of dialog, and is just a cop vs. bad guy movie...where of course you root for the bad guy.

I need days, maybe weeks, to come up with a proper list. BUT, off the top of my head, here we go.

    1. Rambo (any of the 4)
    2. Rocky (any of the 6)
    3. The Man With No Name Trilogy (any of the 3)
    4. Dirty Harry (or Magnum Force)
    5. High Plains Drifter
    6. Commando
    7. High Fidelity
    8. Swingers
    9. Vanishing Point
    10. Bullitt

    My bad.

A lot of people don't like Temple of Doom. I don't think it's technically the best made. But I enjoyed it the most because of the darker tone as I said. But I can see why it's often labeled the worst of the original three.

I hear the new movie "Drive" is pretty good. A lot of people complained that it doesn't have enough dialogue. It seems that people need explanations for everything now. Film Noir would not do well with today's audience. Some people walked out of Drive because of the violence. Or so I've heard.

A movie with a good moody atmosphere can be good to me. It seems that the general public can't stand a movie now where Mood is a huge part of the film.
