Maybe because slash release records and play music instead of selling his gear?

Slash has proven to me that he can still play guitar like he did in 1987.

I don't know how well Ed has been able to play guitar since 1998...

Amen. Slash has never taken the guitar to places it's never been before; Eddie has.

I think most guitar kids today like Slash more.
Only because he's still out there in guitar hero or whatever.

    100% agree with you!
Even if he played good stuff with GNR, and I enjoy the last slash album.
I think ed himself dont care about those opinion polls.

Slash seems like a good guy and he's a good guitarist but he's not in the same league as Eddie no matter what the results of this poll are. That's just a fact.

I like Slash, but mostly for his riffs. Ya, he shouldn't even be considered for the best guitarist, but stuff off of Appetite for Destruction like Nightrain and Out ta Get Me are really cool riffs. I like alot of his solos, and he had an amazing tone on that album too. His solo cd gets alot of play on my ipod.

Gotta hand it to him though, he at least knows how to interact with fans, keep putting music out, tour, and use his image to his advantage.

Not every guitarist has to be innovative or pushing the boundaries... they just have to put out good music, and that's what I see Slash as- a guy who has put out some great r n' r. Although he doesn't deserve to be nominated for best guitarist by almost any means.

All the best riffs that GNR had minus like Sweet Child O'Mine he didn't even come up with.

I did meet Slash at the height of GNR and even then he was a really nice guy.

Like Eddie isn't in guitar hero.

That's the stupidest poll ever. It's like comparing a boat to a car; both are great in their own way but really have nothing in kind.

That's true, Izzy was the backbone of their song writing. Slash has come up with some great stuff though, like in Estranged for example. Slash's tone is probably my favorite ever.

Slash hasn't changed his image or his style of music since Guns. He's like Angus. It isn't about the guitar playing as much as it is the image, and the fact that it has been a steadily active image for the last 25 years.

If Eddie had stayed active all this time, and stuck with his long hair and striped guitar, he may rank a little better in polls like this today. Image plays a huge part. Sad, but true.
