    Default This is just sad

I just came across this. It's fairly recent too.

Makes me want to start a chickenfoot army and bring back sammy and mike. Dave was better on tour in 08, and seems to have cleaned up his act somewhat but the dude just was at the end. He looks as bad as if not worse than Eddie did around that time.

That was horrible, tough to watch. He was way better in 2008 when I saw VH. Thank God.

It ain't that bad. If that was the real VH behind him and not a cover band you'd probably feel different. Dave did the right thing by getting rid of the long hair, and he has done some work with his voice since then, but there's only so much he can do...he's not a singer by his own admission, he just never let his lack of singing talent stand in his way. I've always loved Dave, he's a fascinating guy, and he doesn't take himself too seriously.

I dont understand? start a chickenfoot army? so kick out wolf and DLR from and kick out satch and chad from chickenfoot? Would'nt it be better to just listen to chickenfoot or whatever aboration sam starts? waboritas, the other half, etc. As for a DLR yeah he did look rough but there are many a video of a bloated and Fat Sam out there as well.

I saw him on that tour and he was fine. Saw him again a year after in a small venue and he was even better. DLR rocks. That is all.

Lucky you. I thought he was a fucking embarrassment the night I saw him. Sam blew him away. Wasn't even close.

    Yeah, like 2002.

Wasn't so bad. The band is on it and Dave isn't fucking up and he stays in time and hits the notes. This was his last hurrah at holding on to the 80's and I think we're all glad that he finally let go of it and cut the hair and some of the old schtick.
That video wasn't "just sad",,, ya friggin' hater. Wasn't anything to brag about either,, but..

Beats the shit out of that last incarnation of Van Hagar in '04.

Yep. That was a pretty rough tour... The only one I enjoyed was Alex that year. But everybody always wants to blame it ALL on Ed. Yes, Ed played like crap, but Sam didnt sing well on that tour at all. The shows I saw live were mediocre and I have yet to find a vid on YouTube that's halfway decent.

Yes. And watching the Dave video and then that VH video, Dave's band in '02 sounds much much better than anybody in VH did in '04.

If those two bands went head to head in a battle of the bands then Dave's band in '02 would have stomped the guts out of VH in '04. No contest. Edward in '04 couldn't hold a candle to Dave's guitarist (Brian Young) in '02. Brian Young's very good, and he shows it well in that HFT video linked in the first post of this thread.

Comparing soundboard with audience bootleg? That seems fair. How are those roth-tinted glasses by the way?

Same here, ....well the outfits on the Sam & Dave tour were pretty sad...his band was, especially the drummer, was better than I expected. The whole show got better when he went out on his own, added another guitarist to beef up the sound, and gor some (slightly) better stage clothes....guess the VH1 Classic sponsorship funds really came in handy.
