Mike and I had the biggest laugh when they canceled (the Soundwave Festival in) Australia. He was like, 'I thought you told me they had canceled a couple months ago,' and I was, 'No, no, I told you they announced it.' 'Oh, they announced it,' and we just cracked up. They kill me."

There is no 'trashing' when it's just telling the truth.
Sammy did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.

Man, you'd think Sammy was a bitter teenager who can't go over a girlfriend he had in the 9th grade. How old is this guy?

    No shit!
There must have been some poo privately thrown between the camps recently. Notice how when Sam was selling his book, it was always "I'd work with these guys again in a heartbeat' "A reunion is inevitable". Alex is a great guy, and looks out for his brother".
Now there's been three interviews as of late regarding the new album, and it's I don't like those guys" They're bad dudes" and now it's down to the petty potshots about Soundwave.
Pretty sure Soundwave's scatterbrained organization was the downfall there, but regardless.....It's just kinda pathetic. In a way I'm glad it's just Sam dishing this juvenile crap, though I kinda always thought it would always be slung from the VH side. Maybe silence is golden! Haha.
Don't get me wrong, I like Sammy, but like Mike said...How old is this guy?
Just stick to the music Sam.

Remember that this is an article written by a journalist. They are going to ask questions about VH. Hagar will never ever say, "no comment".

He's echoing a lot of opinions on this site so I don't think his comments are out of line. One thing for sure is that he never misses an opportunity to make the most out of the bit of main stream publicity he does get.

I have just come to expect it from him. I guess in reality that is kind of sad, but outside of Mike, I don't care what anyone associated with VH has to say unless it is album release dates and tour dates.

They are all full of shit.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Does Sammy know for a fact that Van Halen was the reason Soundwave was cancelled? If not then he's speaking out of line in my opinion. He must know something we don't know 'cuz I've read that the festival was cancelled for other reasons.

They didn't cancel the gig, the festival was pulled by the promoters.

    I like Sammy, but...

Then again, this is coming from a guy who said that he sold 60 million albums with VH and that he was as big as a solo artist in 1984 then Van Halen was at the time.

You just know that when (IF) the new VH album comes out, Sammy's going to have plenty to say. Even if it were to sound like Fair Warning (just saying as an example!), Sammy would be quoted in a few interviews telling a story about how he and Michael listened to the disc and just rolled on the floor laughing their asses off.

He actually did it when III came out, but that's a bad example.

I don't think he's trashing VH at all in this interview - he doesn't appear to actually hold them responsible for the Soundwave debacle but is simply having a laugh at their expense and sharing it with us. Let's face it, Mike and Sam's little pot-shot is nowhere near as bad as the stuff we've had to say about them.

And, as has already been said, if the interviewer asks the question, good ol' Sam cannot resist answering - he's been around almost 70 years and I think we should now accept that Tact & Diplomacy are never going to be his middle names!

I've been wondering if Chickenfoot III is a subtle swipe at VHIII. It would seem to make sense. And hopefully CIII is better than VHIII... cuz I'd rather listen to Wham than VHIII.

It seems "Trojan Rubber Company" made the point first about III in another thread. And since he's "protected" I'll give all the credit to the insight to him.

Sammy needs to talk about VH, if he doesn't talk about VH he doesn't feel right.

If Sammy's not talking about VH then it seems that Sammy's got nothing to talk about.
