    Default Earthquake on Eastern Seaboard

Just reported a 5.9 magnitude in DC. Up here in central Ct I felt it. First time in a quake, fuckin scary.

    From CBS

    (CBS/AP)

WASHINGTON - A 5.9 magnitude earthquake centered northwest of Richmond, Va., shook much of Washington, D.C., and was felt as far north as Rhode Island and New York City.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the earthquake was 3.7 miles deep. Shaking was felt at the White House and all over the East Coast, as far south as Chapel Hill, N.C. Parts of the Pentagon, White House and Capitol were evacuated. The quake was in Mineral, Va., in Louisa County.

I guess there was one earlier in Colorado, too?

I'm listening to the Indians-Mariners game (Cleveland feed) and they were talking about the booth shaking and they didn't know why, but they didn't like it! Then they heard about the earthquake.

My wife's office in Columbia, Maryland evacuated, but she's back in now.

First time I've ever heard of seismic activity on the east coast. Yikes.

Maybe the old fart from FamilyRadio.com will shed some light on this.

Yeah, it was weird. I am sitting in my office when my chair, computer and all the light fixtures started shaking. I had no idea what it was and the scariest part is I work in a 100,000 square foot industrial building with 24" thick cement ceilings. All I could imagine was all that cement coming down.

The one felt in Cleveland was on the Ontario-Quebec border (magnitude listing not in article) at 141P EDT.

Outside the Capitol building, tea-partier had just said, "that's not a bad idea" to a democrat, and then, whammo!!

Didn't people on the right coast not the get message that VH's new single wasn't released today? No need to rush to a music store.

Or maybe, everyone one on the east coast all got pissed at the same time at VH. Either way..............

I believe that, I'm sure you guys in California are used to it. Having never been in one it was certainly an experience. Funny thing is another guy working in my factory didn't feel a thing even though all the lights and airlines above his head were shaking.

Well a 5.9 is pretty big. The famous Northridge quake we had here in 1994 was a 6.5 I thought we were all dead for sure. You do get used to the smaller quakes though.
