seen them once before. guitar player is pretty seems pretty damn good to me. i know tribute bands are pretty goofy, but seeing these songs played live, especially with a quality guitar player if fun for me. get a few beers in me and it feels like a realy concert. kind of.

Dude, there ain't a DAMN thing wrong with a good tribute band. These guys typically have so much love for the acts they are replicating that sometimes they sound more like the band than the ACTUAL band does.

And Mean Street BTW sounds pretty fuckin good.

Out here on the left coast we have the incredible Atomic Punks and 5150 as tribute bands covering both eras (No Gary-era tribute band exists as of yet but I'm sure someone's daring to put How Many Say I together at some point ).

Tribute bands are a favorite of mine. My favorite is Which One's Pink. I'm sure I don't need to point out who they cover.

Moving Pictures (Rush) does a fine job too. Queen Nation kicked a new level of ass when last I saw them. Bonfire (Bon Scott era AC/DC) is usually an opener, but I'd love to see them headline.

Some weren't so memorable. Brain Salad was kind of a snoozer, but the keyboard player did a great Emerson emulation.

Tribute bands rule........when they get it right.

Yeah, I saw this Led Zep cover band called Zoso and it was dead-on. They played pretty much every hit and a few of the deeper tracks, and the guy playing Page played better than some of the videos I've seen of the real Jimmy. Then the John Bonham dude managed to pull off a really cool 10+ minute drum solo. Great experience, especially for someone like me who never had the chance to see the real Zep in their heyday.

    Have fun!

i've been watching this guitar player from Mean Street the last few hours on youtube and he's pretty fucking good. he plays Spanish Fly on an acoustic stand up note for note, live, then jumps right into DOA. i'm remembering more from the first time i saw them. i'm getting kind of jacked for tonight.

The Atomic Punks and 5150 are the same band with different singers. The Punks are also a Motley Crue tribute (which is excellent as well BTW) called Motley Inc. with a different singer.

The best tribute band I've seen locally is a band called Dirty Deeds. These guys do an amazing cover of them. The singer is good but the fake Angus steals the show. You can't believe how dead on this guy is in every way.

Any of you guys that live around Mass should check them out. I'm not a fan of AC DC at all other than the entire Back In Black album and a handful of other songs but I always go see them when they play near me. Great time.

VH with Dave ('78-'84) - The best years....the "real" VH.
VH with Sam ('86-'96) - Incredible era....."We have renamed this town 'New Halen!'.
VH with Gary ('98) - Fucking disaster. WTF was that??
VH with Wolf/Dave ('12-'15) - Amazing comeback. Smokin' album and tours.

All tribute bands start and end with Steel Panther.

BTW for the Punks fans here it looks like Ralph and Russ let Joe Lester get up with SP this past weekend. Almost like a PUNKS reunion...lol...

    Son of a bitch.

I checked on this thread a few days late. I should've check this out when you posted it Hack, because I would've joined you.
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.
