Well......I don't post here much but I thought I'd put my 2 cents in here

I know you all probably don't want to hear this crap but here goes anyway...hehe

I started out as a trumpet player in junior high school and I couldn't have cared less for rock 'n roll back then (mid-70's). I was into Jazz bigtime. Maynard Ferguson was my hero in particular for those who may know of him. Then one day with my hard earned summer job money I bought myself a new Pioneer cassete player/recorder to go along with my modest stereo at home. To 'test' the recording quality of my new tape recorder, I had to tape stuff off of the radio because I had no turntable for albums or anything. I didn't even have any speakers....all I had was a set of cheap headphones lol ( I was a poor kid ). The same night I got my new cassette player, my local AOR radio station had a show that ran in the evening on Sunday called "The Seventh Day". The show featured 7 current rock albums played back to back with no interruptions. I thought it would be a perfect opportunity for recording an album off of the radio just so that I would have "something" to listen to so that I could admire how good my new cassette player could record.

It just so happens that the first album to be played that night was Van Halen's debut album. I didn't have a clue who they were nor did I care. I recorded the album in it's entirety and began to listen to it. Of course since I wasn't into rock music I didn't care about the tunes, I was just interested in the quality of the recording. I listened to it over and over and over. Then one time I said to myself, "Damn, listen to this guy play guitar.....!" Well the rest as they say is history.....I was then hooked on the greatest Rock n Roll band in history led by the worlds greatest guitar player.

I am 37 years old now and the first rock 'n roll concert I ever saw in my life was Van Halen during the Fair Warning tour in 1981. I was 18 years old. It was one hell of an initiation to the world of rock music....... : )

Hehe TY Tribb. Homeunit if you're really interested, Maynard Ferguson's best stuff was between 1970 and 1980 IMO. You will alwayd find Maynard in the Jazz section of music at the stores but he truly plays a "rock n roll" trumpet if you know what I mean. This is probably why Eddie impressed the hell out of me so much. Eddie plays guitar the way Maynard plays trumpet, they are both out of this world and they make their own "rules".

Maybe I can win the prize as the oldest person with the most posts? 36 now, 37 in November. Hey FalconDriver - my first concert was 1981 too - Portland, Maine - where was yours?
