Default Chad Smith's Tour Replacement = Kenny Aronoff??

    http://www.planetrock.com/news/rock-...-drummer-2262/

Would be a great choice if it works out, hes one of the best session drummers around. Loved his work on the Iommi-Fused Album.

Joe Satriani tells Planet Rock who may replace Chad Smith on the road

In an interview, which is due to be broadcast next month, Joe Satriani revealed exclusively to Planet Rock that the band would be jamming with renowned studio musician Kenny Aronoff

In the interview Satriani revealed that Smith, who can't tour with Chickenfoot due to touring commitments with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, is the person pushing Aronoff for the spot.

"Chad has definitely been the champion of having Kenny Aronoff come and join us and Kenny is an amazing drummer.

"I've known him for a long time but we've never played together, so we're gonna get together in about two weeks and see if there's the chemistry there. But that would be great if it works out."

Aronoff is best known for his work with John Mellencamp and John Fogerty, but he's drummed on hundreds of records and lots of tours by a vast array of artists including... Tony Iommi, John Mellencamp, The Smashing Pumpkins, Bob Seger, John Fogerty, Melissa Etheridge, Jon Bon Jovi, Elton John, Bob Dylan, Rod Stewart, Alanis Morissette, The Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Cinderella, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Puddle of Mudd, Avril Lavigne, Joe Cocker, B. B. King, Mick Jagger, Ray Charles, M2M, Alice Cooper, The BoDeans, Meat Loaf, Bonnie Raitt, Ricky Martin, Santana, Trey Anastasio, GB Leighton, Michelle Branch, Marion Raven, Vince Gill, Gladys Knight, Aaron Neville, Trisha Yearwood, Patti LaBelle, George Jones, Conway Twitty, The Buddy Rich Big Band, Jefferson Airplane, Jason Sadites, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Alex Band, Johnny Cash, Betty Moon, Brooke White, Stevie Nicks and Switchblade Glory.

Aronoff does some occasional session work here in the Twin Cities. I've never worked with him, but some friends have and only had good things to say about him. I'm sure he'd do well with CF.

Not that my opinion matters, because it doesn't. But if Chad is behind it, I have no issues with it. Besides, with a resume like that, it's hard to argue. I doubt anyone has anything close to that.

Kenny's great. World-class drummer. His stuff with Mellencamp still floors me to this day. I have no problem with this whatsoever.

He would fit the mold nicely . Great references (including the man himself Chad) and already an aquantance of Joe .

I sure do hope the chemistry is there because it just seems like the right thing to do .

Although a big name like Tommy Lee would have more crowd appeal .

I guess (like all of us here) am just concerned with how the tour may go w/o Chad .

CF getting to open for the RHCP or another major headliner could be there saving grace .
