    Default Dish or Direct?

I'm paying too much for my cable and tho I'm very pleased with the product and tech support and all, I gotta cut some costs. My brother advises me to go Direct. Any thoughts, bad experiences?

Stick with cable. It's all the same shit. It'll cost you more to get less channels with any dish provider.

I had direct TV for years and loved. Never a problem with service. Dumpred cable for it.

I am very happy with Direct TV as well, but with all the new ways to get shows (Hulu, iTunes, etc., HBO Go), you may look into what you actually watch, what you pay for, and if it makes sense to do it a la carte, or pay for a lower package, etc.

Down here in central Texas they have Time Warner which is basically like Comcast. I just cable and internet last Thursday and my HD DVR box already needs to be replaced... I am not very confident at this point... I just hope that my next box lasts longer than a week...

Well I'm paying 92 bucks a month as it is. That's with no premium channels; HBO, Showtime etc. etc. I do get several movie channels as well as probably close to 200 other channels, lots of HD stuff. I like my package, just think I'm paying too much. If I can save 40 bucks a month and get at least close to what I'm getting now, I'd be happy. Most seem to be saying steer towards Direct tv.

Well I had dish and toward the end I they started raising prices and I went back to cable an to be honest it all balances out. I have comcast and my bill is like 150 but I get 400 channels and my Internet is blazing. In the end I broke even. I switch when they have good deals but it's only a limited time then package X kicks in. Just stupid stuff like that.

Funny though, last time I switched back to cable they told me that I needed to go on my roof and get the transponder and send it back to them. I live in a 3 story house an told them to go fuck themselves. Still on my roof and they didn't charge me.

I'm paying about 90 now with DirecTV with HD on 2 TVs...to be honest, I'm getting ready to go back to basic cable simply because we aren't using the channels that we are paying for. That said, DirecTV has always offered a superior product as far as expanded channels and HD when compared to the cable company.

Never had Direct or Dish. Always had cable. I pay 140. Smokin internet, dvr, prolly 40 hd channels, aprox 250 standard digital, movies on demand and Stars-Encore pkg. The DVR's fail often. Thought about changing but always hear complaints from dish users about loosing service any time a storm rolls thru. Frankly, I think they're all over priced.

I've got Direct and love it. I had Dish a few years ago and could not stand them. Two months ago directtv proved their worth to me. Three days after the April 27th tornados ripped through this area I got a voice mail and email from directtv offering a free service call to make sure all of my equipment was ok. Luckily I had no damage but I did go without power for over a week and they offered to pro-rate my bill for that month. Excellent customer service!!!!!!!!

If you are a football fan, like me, DirecTv is the way to go. You can't get the football package on Dish Network.

I should say that I dumped my Direct TV a few months back when I got a ROKU. I found that I was just not watching it that much, I was spending most of my time watching Netflix dvd's and netflix streaming through roku. I never had an issue with direct tv just didnt feel like paying $80 a month for something I was not watching.
