    Default VH Vinyl Question

Finally ready to breakdown and pick up the 180 gram vinyl of the DLR-era...but anyone know why Fair Warning hasn't been reissued?

Admittedly, I have been somewhat off on keeping up with the 180 gram audiophile vinyl that has come out, but I thought the debut album was the only one released so far and that was like a couple of years ago???

No - all the Dave ones except for Fair Warning have been released.

Maybe they are waiting for Alex to come in and fix his drum part on "So This is Love?"

Yeah...I was wondering that too. I had heard rumblings that they were going to release it on the anniversary but nothing. Not even a mention. I picked up a beautiful old Dual belt drive Turntable a few months back, and would love to hear a decent copy of FW on it. I've got an original vinyl copy from 85 or 86 or something, but honestly vinyl quality was just starting to get a bit sketchy. Real soft, usually a bit warped. You know, as a side note...My first copy I brought home of HSAS which I bought in 1988 was so horrible. I took it out of the jacket, and it sounded like there was a fuzzball on the needle. Checked it and it was clean. When I took it off to look at it, I thought I could see light passing through it! Held it up to a lamp, and yep!!!!! Could see the light bulb right through the shitty crap they called vinyl!

Took it back right away, and showed it to the dude at the counter, He was not surprised at all, gave me another copy, and said to me "Time to get a CD player!" I sprung for one that month, but was seriously bummed. It was kind of an end of an era. Glad to see these being released, and hope to see FW on a good ol'e heavy black pressing!

I'm just starting to get into vinyl again now. The 180 gram pressings are really something. And definitely no light bulb passing through!

Tell me about it! I've got some real old records, including some old 78's which have a bunch of old time radio pieces on them, and some blues stuff, which were actually made of acetate or shellac. Very brittle. Some of them have shattered over the years during moves. Got some old Chuck Berry, Duane Eddy, Ventures stuff that my dad had, and some old 60's Stones and Hendrix stuff, and they still sounds mint. Not knocking CD's as long as they're produced and mastered well, but with records it's just so much more of an experience from the cover/sleeve art, to the act of dropping the needle carefully on the grooves. You know what I mean?
...And MP3's. Music media now is as sentimental as a disposable razor.

Isn't Rhino reissuing some CVH on vinyl soon? I coulda swore I saw it on their website.

I haven't picked up the reissued VH1 but I have every album except for Balance. I can't seem to find that anywhere.

Balance is a tough find given when it was released...took me quite awhile to find a good copy years down the road.

As for Rhino reissues, wasn't that more of a hint that the Sam catalog may be rematered on CD as the 6 pack was before?

Sammy era VH has already been remastered. VH 3 too. They released them in Japan a couple years ago. They sound way better and are worth tracking down. Poster Jack Panama hooked me up with copies.

I should have been a bit more clear in my post...I meant for release in the US. There was talk of this when the brothers re-upped their distribution deal with Warner (Rhino).

I thought I read somewhere that if Warner was going to release the remasters in the US if VH didn't release a new album. I coulda swore I also read that they were releasing Blu-Ray copies of LWAN and RHRN.

A Blu-Ray release of LWAN would rawk...RHRN, not so much.

Four of the six Dave-era albums have recently been released on 180-gram RTI vinyl. (All but Fair Warning & Diver Down, which will hopefully be released some day...)

Boy I'm sure glad I held on to my FW album from back in the day. I still remember the day I bought it like yesterday.

    Wow I sound old!
