Default Wow, this guitarist is awesome!

A lot of people have used Ed's techniques and licks, but this guy has got the groove down, too.

In Eddie's mind, that's what Wolfie plays like. But, I know it's not him, since he doesn't have a wedding ring on. Good shredder, though.
    Just go for it!

That was phenomenal. Got the feeling you could put on a 2 hour backing track and the guy could go all day. Wow.

Much more Vai-ish than EVH. Pretty nuts.

Jesus he made that look easy. Nice groove too. I kind of feel like I shouldn't bother playing anymore.

Some of these kids shredding away in their bedrooms defy belief. It's like that funtwo guy from Korea. When I saw his version of Pachelbels Canon in D I was just blown away but it also gave me a great trip down memory lane, remembering how it felt to spend hours in my room practicing.

Get the same feeling from this guy. Great technique, tone and groove.

If this is the next generation, I'm well up for it.

I thought the same thing you did but that's not a kid. Looks to be in his 40's I bet.

I hear more Vai than EVH too, but the guy is just incredible. I totally agree Graeme. My neighbor's younger brother is 18, and is right up there on this level of playing. Makes me look like a complete hack, and I've been playing for over 30 years! Haha

You may be right. I've watched it a few times now and facially he could be much older than I thought, but he still seems to have the puppy fat hands and arms.

Whether he's 14 or 44 though, this guy can really play. The thing that impresses me even more than the overhand tapping, flamenco rasgueados and blur-fast sweeping is his articulation and phrasing. The first few bars of soloing, before he begins to showboat have some lovely syncopated licks and he is popping in a few melodically surprising notes.

I agree with Brett that he is more Vai than EVH, but after a few listens it is pretty obvious that this guy is his own man. Sure, some influences are there, but he is not a derivative fanboy and he actually has a voice of his own. Character. Anyone who plays that kind of super-tech stuff will say how hard it is to get some emotion into your playing when there are that many notes in quick succession.

I don't think he plays with anyone else at all though, which is a shame.

Why? He puts the pick on his leg when he needs all his right hand fingers and he looks very well practiced at dropping it and picking it back up again. Hard to do that standing up methinks.

This is another reason why I thought he might be younger.
