    Definitely agree with Jamie's Cryin'.

    Mine all Mine, maybe?

    WIL, maybe?

Let me consider the proposition in more detail...
    I'm FEMALE...Deal with it!

"Whatever you do, wherever you go, there you are..." Edward Van Halen 1986

"You spend the first part of your life trying to make your mark, and the second part just trying to cover up your tracks"... Weesfreewheelin, 2012

"Life's too short to stuff a mushroom"... Shirley Conran, 1975

"You turn if you want to...The LADY is NOT for turning!"...Margaret
    Thatcher, 1980

Hmmm...man there are so many, hard to pick off the top of my head.

I love what Mike does on RWTD, especially live you really hear it.
Cool harmonies on In A Simple Rhyme in the slow part.
    HAIL has good ones.
Feel Your Love Tonight of course.
    Can't leave out DTNA.
I love the Summer Nights backing.
    When It's Love for sure.
Top of The World is another one.
Not Enough has good ones, even though not one of my favorite tunes.

Geez...pretty much any of their songs all have great harmonies (except for the obvious; Eruption, Spanish Fly, etc.)
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.

Runnin' With the Devil was the first one I thought of. Great harmony there.
The bah-bada part in I'm the One is cool. Well, the whole song has good harmonies, actually.
    HAIL has great ones too.

The first 3 or 4 records set the bar - listen to those background vocals! It was pure magic with the original 4... Maybe it was even the first 6? Sam has a high vocal range and IMO it was never the same after CVH was done. Sorry, I'm not going to be politically correct on this - it's the classic 6 pack where the vocal blend was perfect IMO.

Everybody Wants Some doesn't have any vocal harmonies. Gang vocals where everyone sings the same melody doesn't count. Same thing with HFT, there are some harmonies but nothing spectacular.
"I'm The One" should definitely be mentioned. Plus the other ones quoted above (HAIL, DTNA, WIL, etc).
As a bonus "Get It Up" from CF's debut has some VH-esque harmonies left and right, courtesy of Sam and Mike.

Finish What You Started has a cool harmony by EVH on the pre-chorus part ("If I fall shy at all"). I've heard the song a million times and never noticed it much until I was listening to it on headphones a few years back...not that its my favorite VH harmony ever, but its a cool one thats easy to miss
Any musicians near Boston / Cape Cod want to get together and play some VH? I play drums, guitar, keyboard, bass, and I sing. I want to start a VH tribute band. Contact me if interested.

Little Dreamer, I beg to differ with the definition of harmony that you stated.

Instead, for the purpose of this thread, I used a broader definition of harmony that allows for everyone to be singing the same lines:

    har·mo·ny
    n.

    3. Music
    a. The study of the structure, progression, and relation of chords.
    b. Simultaneous combination of notes in a chord.
    c. The structure of a work or passage as considered from the point of view of its chordal characteristics and relationships.
    d. A combination of sounds considered pleasing to the ear.

For the purpose of this thread, people are just talking about backing vocals I think. My choices were songs with distinct different voices. The gang vocal thing doesn't make VH special, it's the distinct harmonies in the backing that set them apart vocally.

I mean there are some harmonies in Panama, "the ain't no stopping now" thing. But the chorus is not a harmony in the NOT broad sense of the word. Same with Everybody Wants Some...there are no harmonies there either, just gang vocals.

I always play the slow part on In a Simple Rhyme for non VH die hards as the best example of Classic VH Harmonies. That being said, I actually point to Diver Down as a one of my favorite overall VH albums for the harmonies. From WHATGTG to Secrets, Little Guitars, and even Dancin in the Streets (There, I said it!), Mike and Ed's vocals shine. I also think that Women in Love is a highlight for Classic VH vocal harmonies. I used to turn the right side off in my car so I could hear the harmonies more clear without the guitar.

One of my biggest criticisms of VH in the 90's is that they seemed to move away from those great VH harmonies. As far as VH w/ Sammy, 3 songs stick out to me:

    1) Summer Nights has great harmonies especially on the fadeout.
    2) Source of Infection gets killed because of the lead vocal and lyrics but actually has great harmonies on the chorus that nobody ever mentions.
    3) Top of the World has phenomenal harmonies between Ed and Mike. I always wished that they had taken Sammy's vocal out of the mix on the chorus and just left Mike and Ed's (like they did live).

Wow, I gave love to Dancin in the Streets and Source of Infection in the same post!

Too many to count in the VH catalog but for me the signature harmonies begin and end with "In a Simple Rhyme".
