Default Van Halen Retrospective (comedic review video)

I just put this on VHND. This guy Phil is really funny and did a great job. You guys need to watch this!

    Van Halen Retrospective (Part 1)

Midnight Phil discusses the David Lee Roth era of his favorite band, Van Halen, in the first part of this two part retrospective. Itís basically a home-made comedic review done with a lot of effort by a young, passionate fan. We hope you enjoy it!

"The album that is not to be played".

I laughed the fuck out loud on that, still chuckling while I type this.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Preferred pronouns: he/him/his

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

Really, really enjoyable. Nothing new but re-told in a thoroughly entertaining way. Full marks!

Anyone read the comments below the clip? I am wondering whether Roth Leaps 83 is a member of VHLinks...

Fun video. Heís a bit Adam Sandler-ish.

I had fun reading the comments section as well. All of the Roth-heads gushed over his perspective of CVH. I canít wait for them to turn on him with Part 2 if he has anything good to say about Van Hagar. Instead of saying that he was surprisingly knowledgeable for being so young, they say heís ignorant because he never saw CVH live or something.

It will be nice to get that perspective between the eras from a younger guy. Right now we get that perspective from Zach who also has a very reasonable view of things. When it comes down to it, there is no reason why you must hate one era simply because you prefer the other.

To each his own, but I will always hate the Gary era.

Absolutely - that's why I wondered whether the poster Roth Leaps 83 came on here...If you like Hagar (whether or not you're a fan of Dave aas well) you're a "sheep" - apparently. I would suggest that you're more of a sheep if you base your musical preferences on what somebody else tells you you should like...

I did the same. His facial expressions were priceless!

Although there was nothing new in there I did like the way he talked about the break-up. Knowing what we know about Eddie now I do side with Dave more than I would have at the time. Dave wanted to do a movie as a side project...Eddie said fuck you. Sort of like the can't be in 2 bands comment.

    Looking forward to Part II

He made mention that most people blame Dave for the break. I would agree with that general notion up until 1996. Up to that point, Eddie came across as the reserved musician with the integrity and Dave was an egomaniac. The other side of Ed came to light after Sam was fired (or quit) and the fans saw the same game play out like 1985 as if it was a script. The common element? EVH. The dealings with the "Best of" album and Dave (youíre in the band, no youíre not) further confirmed who the real problem was for me.

Both Sam and Dave have ego issues and are not blameless but.....
