Default Peppers Album drops Aug 30th

"I'm With You" The new Red Hot Chili Peppers Album drops Aug. 30th....
    Can you say Peppers/Foot tour??????

It makes perfect sense. Everyone knows Chad CAN and Would pull it off!

That would be a sick tour.....

Flea "it gives me profound pleasure deep in the fiber of my being to announce the august 30 release date of the new red hot chili peppers's record"

    I'm not down for it.

RHCP were cool until every song started sounding the same. Plus the 'Foot would be reduced to an opening slot, which means a limited setlist. With their strong cult following, they can do far better than that.

I would hate to waste $150 on nosebleeds to see nine 'Foot songs and 20 RHCP songs. Just not worth it.

    Thank you for the news

I'm torn. It sounded like a good idea until Zachenfoots comments.

I like the idea of Chad doing both, although I think it may hurt him. He puts 110%+ into every show and three or four hours a night sounds painful to me.

Also, with a reduced Chickenfoot setlist and, quite frankly the RHCP crowd being different than CF, I don't think that's a good idea.

However, with Chickenfoot I can't imagine the window for touring with Chad being large enough to support very many shows. I guess that would sort of force CF to either put off the album or tour with someone else, as has been mentioned previously.

I can't see Chad playing four hours a night.

And I just can't see Sam wanting to open for the RHCP.

    Could be wrong of course!

Who is the guitarist now for RHCP?

I'd rather see Chickenfoot be the headliner especially now they have a couple albums to tour off of.

I would have loved to see Sammy and the Wabos recently but as they were opening for Aerosmith, I wasnít going to spend $150 to see Sammy as an opening act. This would be the same deal.
I think itís a terrible idea unless they did it only for some key shows in large markets just to get the name of the band out there and then did their own tour afterwards.

Being a RHCP fan isn't going to automatically make you a CF fan and vice-versa.

I'm familiar with RHCP and I like probably two of their songs. They're just not for me. I'm not gonna pay full price for I night I would only be half interested in. Would be like going to a Foo Fighters/Nirvana show - sure they have one member in common but the difference in the sets would be like night and day.

Or in the case of FF/Nirvana - Totally rocking and totally sucking.

Josh Klinghoffer is the new guitarist. I don't know much about him except that he was on a few of John Frusciante's solo albums (most of which are really good). Also he was a second guitarist/backup vocalist for part of RHCP last tour. But I've heard from people who are familiar with him that he's very good...and I assume if he's the guy the Peppers went with that he must be good.

Chad's a beast, but I don't think he can open with the Foot and then a full set with the Peppers, no.

The fanbases are kinda different. Dunno if it'd mix.

I kind of agree with you.

Just to post an alternative view though (what eles is the Links for?), when I saw DLR open for Bad Company, it worked out pretty well.

Even though he was the opener, DLR played for over an hour, and they gave him most of the stage to use.

At the time, this was the DLR of twelve years ago, which means he was still running around on stage liked he was out of his mind on coke. Then to have Bad Company come out there and the only time any of them moved was when Paul Rodgers stepped back and twirled his mic stand.

Totally contrasting styles, but still a good show!

I see your point but Chickenfoot tickets cost around $40-50 last tour if I remember correctly. They played nice long sets and in a smaller venue where I can get close to the stage.

If I am only marginally interested in the headliner, why would I pay 3 times the price for a shorter set to see them?

Well, that's great to hear some love for Navarro, but they've gone in too much of a radio friendly alt-rock direction to ever go back to something grungy.

I'm looking forward to the album, but after seeing the Foo Fighters last night with another 65,000 people, I'm wondering if RHCP can be as good as they were 5 years ago.
If I told the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth about what I've gone through over the last 20 odd years, what it took to finally get where I am, people just wouldn't fucking believe it. So it's pointless. I now realize that I can't change people's minds, and I really don't want to or need to try. I'm at peace with it, and that's all that matters. - Edward Van Halen
