You know, when I was a kid, we never had tornadoes in the northeast....it was practically unheard of.....now they happen here every summer....and they're getting worse....I have yet to see one in action but I have seen the aftermath more than once...it's some pretty scary shit and in NH they're usually around an F2.....I can't imagine an F5!!

In 1953 they had an F5 that went through Worcester (right down my father's street) and all the way to Boston.
My father hid under a piano as my grandparents were not home from work yet. His neighbor was sucked right out of his Jeep in his driveway and killed.

It was madness all around me from about 5:00-9:30 tonight. Tornadoes touching down within 30 minutes of my house all while the most insane thunder/lightning was going on right over my head. Some of the cracks of thunder were like cannons going off in my living room. It was unreal.

Yeah Springfield and Brimfield got hammered. Man, I can't imagine how you recover from your house being reduced to rubble.

DD, glad you and family are ok.

Massive, huge tornado outbreaks in a area that normally gets them, (southern plains, midwest) and outbreaks in areas that normally don't. This spring severe season is one for the record books and will be studied for many many years. Just hate so many lives have been lost and displaced!

That happens here frequently for about a month or so during the peak storm season. I have almost become indifferent to it. The last big storm I was in my bathroom with my dogs, ready to jump into the tub with blankets to throw over the top us us. No tornado touched down but the wind was bad enough to take down some big branches and small trees. It also damn near removed a sheet of metal from my metal roof. I had to get a hold of my Landlord to have him come and fix it.

I live about an hour west of Joplin, MO. I can't remember now if that was the same night as the tornadoes that hit there or the night after. This was the night after the tornadoes that went through Joplin. I looked it up.

I'm less than an hour south of there. I'm shocked that happened. Not used to hearing about tornadic activity here in New England.
They were saying on the news last night that 4 people died. I hope that number hasn't risen since then.
We lucked out and didn't get a drop of rain in central CT. I feel bad for the people up in Mass. that got hit. This was bad, but I can't help thinking about how much worse it is in places like Tuscaloosa and Joplin.

On the bright side, at least the Red Sox were able to get their loss, I mean game, in.

    Glad you're alright, DD.

Its weird to see how the water from the river just gets sucked up like that. It almost looks like its out of a movie but I know that its very real. Crazy stuff. I hope those affected by this will be able to pick up soon.
