Default "Chickenfoot IV" - album title ?

Does anybody know why they went with this? LZ reference, perhaps? Wouldnt Chickenfoot II make more sense?

I cant find anything on the web except for Sammy confirming the title for the release set this fall.

They were calling it that as a joke amongst themselves during the recording process with no intentions of really going with it. In some interviews later Sam took it upon himself to kind of announce that that was the title and they stuck with it.

They didn't really intend to call the band "Chickenfoot" either. People just referred to the project that way and eventually they said fuck it...why not? I'd imagine they'll title the next disc in the same way.

I've said it before and I'll say it again-
I really enjoy Led Zeppelin. I really enjoy Chickenfoot. But the two are like apples and oranges. They should not be referenced or compared to each other in any way. That's a lousy album title for Chickenfoot.

I have no problem with II, even though it was a Zeppelin album title also. But at least it's not a direct LZ reference. Now, if it were Chickenfoot's fourth album, sure call it IV.

Strictly speaking, IV would not be an exact Led Zeppelin-reference, since their fourth album did not have a "real" title. It's either called IV, Four Symbols or zoso, if I remember correctly. But I think it doesn't even have an official name.

I don't think calling it Chickenfoot IV has anything to do with Zep. I take them using 'IV' as a joke because it's obviously not their fourth album. They're just fucking around.

I can just see someone online in twenty years "man, I got into this older band called Chickenfoot and I bought their first and fourth albums, but man, I can't find anything about Chickenfoot II and III".
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

Yep. There was no Vol. 2 because of the passing of Roy Orbison. It sucks that the Silver Wilburys never evolved into anything.

I always maintained that TW was possibly a Beatles reunion of sorts. George Harrison was a member, but you saw Ringo in at least one video. With Paul dabbling in rap and other things under a pseudoname, perhaps he participated.

But, that's got nothing to do with Chickenfoot.

    The Rune album.
The nonexistent Zeppelin IV album reference was takin from an American teen comedy titled Fast Times At Ridgemont High.
