Default Slash talks about NEW VAN HALEN album!!

On May 17, Tom Russell of U.K.'s Rock Radio conducted an interview with legendary guitarist Slash (VELVET REVOLVER, GUNS N' ROSES). You can now listen to the chat using the audio player below. A couple of excerpts follow.

    On VAN HALEN:

Slash: "They're finishing [up their new album right now], actually. I don't wanna speak on their behalf, but one of the guys that works for us works for VAN HALEN in the studio and he told me that they're in the mixing stages."

YOU CAN HEAR THE AUDIO ON THIS SITE

"I could call it anything, but the only word I can think of is Brown. It's just a warm sound. Warm, big, majestic" - Eddie Van Halen on his Tone

"Van Halen is definitely a ladies band, and I´ve got the Polaroids to prove it". - David Lee Roth

WOLFGANG did the IMPOSSIBLE, he brought back VAN HALEN, DEAL WITH IT.

Slash uses the same studio bass guy?
Sammy did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.

Slash has to be an apologist for saying such things.

Wow - mixing stage. I'm seriously starting to believe that new music is really on the way. What are the reasons again as to why they aren't communicating this with the fans, i.e. us?

First piece of credible evidence to date. Slash is a solid dude.

STOKED that he's gonna drop a second solo LP. First one (deluxe edition) was maybe my favorite LP of the last 2 years. Fuck VR, he should just keep doing solo work.

Didn't someone say all the songs were written in the 70's? If so, it's still ten.

Honestly with this band, I believe it could blow up at ANY second. So why start shooting your mouth off about a new album only to have the whole thing implode. The fact that they haven't said squat is insurance for denial in case the whole thing crumbles.

Anyone remember exactly how far the last attempt to do an album with Roth got? All I can remember is Mikey saying something about the tunes being pretty damn good.

Slash, Dweezil, Trunk, etc etc etc. Pictures in the studio. Whoever this STERV is that said there'd be an update on VHND by today, I can't see any incentive to ever "lie" about it.

How long does it take to mix an album? Just asking.
'Old Van Halen, when I was in it-classic Van Halen-makes you wanna drink, dance and screw, right? And the new Van Halen encourages you to drink milk, drive a Nissan and have a relationship.' - David Lee Roth.
