Default Looking for a new guitar

I just got the green light from the wife to buy myself a new guitar for my b-day!

But I am undecided on what to get, I was looking to you guys for some suggestions. I have a PRS Custom 24, Fender Wolfgang Sp, and a EVH Charvel, so I dont really want to get anything that I already have.

I'd like to get something versatile that I can play most styles of music.

What guitars do you guys have that you would definitely recommend?

    Thanks,
    Scottyb

I know you said something that you can play all different kinds of music but are you looking for something non EVH?

I would recomend a Kramer (the new pacers are awesome) or an older baretta or something on that line. I love the Kramers (old ones mostly).

Yea -not really looking for another EVH, but the Stealth looks pretty cool.
I love the old Kramers, I used to have a Baretta years ago and wish I never got rid of it. I haven't heard about the new pacers, I'll have to check them out. Do you have a new pacer?

check out the Charvel So-Cal, the new ones are made in Japan (used to be USA) but they are great guitars with fantastic necks, also the Fender Jim Root Strat or Tele's are very versatile considering who Jim plays for plus they're just different enough to not be a Tele or Strat if you know what i mean. Also i'm on a huge PRS kick at the moment so i would recomend their single cut SC-250 or the Johnny Highland signiture (the latter being perhaps the finest guitar i have played in 30yrs)

So many choices out there and variables. Nice collection btw.
Personally I love Gibson Les Paul's so that's one suggestion.
Maybe a black beauty custom. Also dig what you can get from
Fender's custom shop. An American Fender super strat from Fender's
custom shop would be a sweet b day gift in my eyes.

Let's us know and see what you end up with.

I have played one and it played amazing. Reminded me of the older ones which are my favorite. I am most likely going to grab one one of these days.

    What's your budget?

Tom Andersons are amazing. Of course, Suhr as well.

I just bought a Stealth (waiting for it to arrive). I'll give a full report here once it does.

    all great choices there!
Dare I say that i also really like the PRS SE Singlecut Korina! That thing is bitchin' and just about everything I dialed on the amp or switching between pickups sounded great and very dynamic. Not much I can think of that that guitar couldn't work well in. Plus great fast neck, very light, and the crisp harmonic response you expect from korina.
Think they go for around 700 at the moment.
    It's next on my list.

How about a Fender Custom Shop - get one hand-built to your specs.

yup, pretty much any guitar with PRS on the headstock is gonna be impressive, from the cheapest of the SE-line to the one of a kind private stock stuff. i recently played a 25th anniversary Custom-22 and was blown away, it could easily cost twice as much and i wouldn't have thought twice about it. I've not played a Singlecut Korina yet so i'll certainly check one out when i get the chance, the Santana-SE's are also worth checking out.

Consider a Telecaster. I just got my first Tele after 20 years of collecting and can't believe what I have been missing out on. I got a Mexican Special Edition for $500 and it is just magical. Even the US versions are not too much money and they are versatile, comfy, look cool and sound great. Try a few out. It's always nice to be inspired by something new and unexpected! Have fun.

Here's a link I found where someone discussed the Special Edition Mexican Telecaster and showed pics. Looks like it's a Guitar Center Exclusive.

I notice all your guitars have trems and humbuckers. Have you ever considered a stop tail like a les paul?
Or if you want tonal versatility, you could try any single coil type guitar. Or even 335 or other hollow body, depending on how much of a different sound you want.

Thanks for all the input guys!

I am still undecided. I am leaning toward a tele or PRS but still not sure. I'll have to go out and play a couple more guitars this week.

Keep the suggestions coming. If you have a great guitar that you would recommend tell me about it.
