Default Patch Bay wanted for pedal board...

    Hi all

Im in the process of making my pedal board and I had the idea of running all my pedals being pre-amp, effects loop and amp controlling plus guitar input into a patch bay dock and then having all my cables from my amps connecting to the one patch bay dock when I connect up rather than to the various places on the board.

Thing is im having trouble finding a patch bay dock which is basically configured like a box with 8 to 10 1/4 jack female plugs on one side and 8 to 10 1/4 jack female plugs on the otherside being opposite to each other as normal stomp box jacks are configured.

Is there such a patch bay dock in existence? I need one that takes 8 to 10 jacks on each side.

i'm not 100% sure what you're trying to achieve but would something like Radial Loopbone be what you're looking for?:

there stuff is incredible, i use their Switchbone pedal to switch between my 5150 and VH4 and it's flawless.

Quick search on Musiciansfriend.com yielded this:

Otherwise, rack-mounted options can be found here (standard type patch bays):

I don't think what you're looking for is a 'patchbay' so to speak. I think you are looking for a cable consolidation or management 'quick disconnect' system. I don't know of anything like that actually being made anywhere, since it would be a highly customized piece of guitar rig gear, but I do know of something similar. To save space on the back of a lot of high end recording interfaces, they don't have like 100 XLR inputs all lined up. Instead, they have a few of what looks like a PC serial port with a full 8 XLR plugs worth of connection all grouped into 1 port. So then you connect a special snake to the interface with 1 plug, and on the other end you have a mess of 8 XLR cables. So how that relates to your case is that you could leave the pedals all connected to the 'box' or 'snake', and then the whole thing would be consolidated into one plug and cable that would run off to your amp or whatever. Makes for a single disconnect when setting up/ taking down.

I know how you'd go about making something like this, but like I said, it would have to be a completely custom job tailored to your rig, and I'm guessing the labor and cost of special connectors and multiplexed cable would probably be pretty steep. Also, having everything multiplexed could possibly induce some hum or crosstalk between devices... hard to know.
