Default ivory PV Wolf tuning peg

I noticed on my Wolf that one of the ivory tuning pegs is cracked. Other than calling PV and ordering a new one anyone know of someone that has an extra one kicking around?

    thanks guys,

    Rob

Peavey can only sell you the whole tuner because that's how they get them from Schaller. Those ivory buttons were prone to cracking because there was a small metal bushing on the inside of the hole, and that made the plastic around the hole rather thin. I think three of the six on my black Wolf ended up cracked.

I bought a MUCH better set that both looked and functioned better from these guys in Germany: http://www.crazyparts.de/mode/schallerm6/index.php

AllParts doesn't have ivory, but they have ebony or pearloid (like on all the other Wolfs): http://www.allparts.com/Schaller-Sty...k-7728-0e0.htm / http://www.allparts.com/Pearloid-But...k-0978-055.htm

I think I had heard you, Andrew, mention the ivory buttons prone to cracking. When I acquired my Black Peavey Wolfgang, one of the first mods I made was putting pearloid buttons (got 'em from Stew Mac). I still have my buttons, stored in the case. Anyways, I thought I'd just mention that the pearloid buttons look pretty good on the Wolfie also.
Eddie must think I'm a BOZO to want to drop THAT much on one of his new Charvel Guitars!

This was a pretty common issue and one that is most likely caused by the issue Andrew stated. I have been lucky in that the tuners on my Early Wolfs never cracked, though I am interested in if the ones Peavey sell today are exact, since I noticed a lot of parts are really for the HP Customs which is basically the same guitar and also what was used on the tail run of the Wolfgangs. You ever look on the back plates of the early Wolfgangs and they are smooth and fit right in with the back finish. Well the plates you get now are the plastic ones with the grooves that used to be on most of the Specials. I have to call and ask Chris at Peavey if they still have or make the older ones which I doubt as on two seperate occasions I ordered full sets of covers and that is what I recieved. Not that there is anything wrong with them but you know they are replacements, that is why I was wondering if the tuners were exact. To be honest I did not even know they still sold the tuners as I spoke with one guy who searched all over for one and it could of been right under his nose lol. Just like I did not know till AT told me they still sell the fret guards a while back which are up to $19 because of the mooks selling them for $40 on the bay along with $35 trem bars that Peavey sells for $4.
