    Default For You New Yorkers...

My lady friend just bought me a plane ticket to accompany her to New York next month. I was quite shocked and ecstatic at the same time. I have wanted to go to New York for as long as I can remember and almost went once before (in September 2001) but my family didn't want me to miss school.

That being said, what are some things to do that aren't exactly "touristy"? I definitely want to check out the World Trade Center memorial, Statue of Liberty, Madison Square Garden and Times Square but I would also like to do a lot more. I need to indulge in some authentic New York pizza. Any suggestions?

What other things would you suggest that would allow one to get the scoop of living in Manhattan? One of these days, I'd like to live in the area, or at least consider it. I am really, really looking forward to this!

John's Pizzeria is fantastic. There are several locations.

For great views of the city, most folks will tell you to head up Empire State. But Top Of The Rock is less-crowded, and easier to navigate and take photos from. You'll also have less worry about visibility issues compared to Empire State.

Spend a day strolling the park. It's nice.

Battery Park and Greenwich Village. Bring lots of money or empty credit cards.

If you are looking for a good place to chill and have dinner or a beer try this place.

I used to jog but the ice cubes kept falling out of my glass.

Scotty had the best tip so far...Top of the Rock is waaaay less crowded than the Empire State Building and the views are just as good. In fact I would say they are better because you actually get the Empire State Building in your photos!

When I am in NYC I like to walk...just start walking. Every few blocks you see something else that you forgot was in NYC. The village is great and if you keep drifting east toward the Brooklyn Bridge you wander through China Town which is unique on its own. I have been to NYC 6 times now and every time I end up in a different area. Always a great trip.

    Thanks for the tips, guys.

I scored tickets to go see the May 9th taping of the Daily Show with Jon Stewart this morning. I am really looking forward to that!
