Default REAL FOOT - that's FOOTball!

Am dead excited - my team, Bolton Wanderers, are in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley tomorrow, playing Stoke City.

Am saving my money for the final in May so we'd better get there - this is a big thing for us - it's been over 50 years since we won it last.

    C'mon you Whites!

Just wanted to share - can't wait!

I just don't understand the fascination with futbol.

I am sure it is fun to play, but damn it is boring to watch.

I would rather watch Nascar, and that is saying something!
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Preferred pronouns: he/him/his

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

What happened Dibble? I really thought Bolton would put Stoke away tidily but 5-0!? I hope Stoke go on to beat City but I can't see it - the final is one game that Mancini will go balls out to win.

Still, as far as Bolton is concerned, I take it you're still happy with the season so far and with the way Coyle has your team playing? I think he's done a great job and, to be honest, I do believe the rumours about his moving on (to Arsenal, for example). Sorry bud.

Ditto, although the countless gifs we get out of them faking injuries are awesome. This sums up soccer for me. I've posted it before, I think:

A: Eddie Van Halen hands down he threatened all the stage hands that if we wernt all pushed to the side when he got off stage that he would "bash our faces in"

Now the new David-Lee-Roth-Van Halen album, “Tokyo Dome In Concert,” is available for purchase, and it’s super, super, super, super, super, super, crazy bad. - Doug Elfman

its like baseball for the rest of the world. If you grew up with it and get the strategy of the game and all of the little things then you get it. If you didn't grow up with the sport you'll find it boring (much like my father does with baseball).

Very true, although I don't mind baseball - it's like rounders, right? What I just don't 'get', though, is basketball. Back and forth, one end to the other, and the scores always in the hundreds. A few students of mine, and even a fellow teacher, love and play the game but I just don't get it.

American 'football' too. While I think the different plays are quite cool, there are just too many stoppages in the game. (Much like rugby over here.)

If I grew up watching these sports, playing them, having my dad throw cutlery at the TV when his team lost (as he has done when Celtic lose against R**gers) etc, then I probably would appreciate them. As it stands, they just leave me cold, I'm afraid.

And don't get me started on cricket!

I prefer to watch UK women. Rugby is cool though.

Hiya matey - sorry for delayed reply - still recovering from total whitewash (and was hoping nobody had spotted my thread as I am so mortified by the result). Went to the pub to watch but left at half-time (3-0) as couldn't stand any more. It was the first time we'd taken my little boy to see a match (he was wearing his BWFC shirt and was so excited - NEVER again - he's obviously a jinx, poor chap). Can't understand it at all - had the opportunity to go and am so glad I didn't waste nigh on £200 - buggers didn't even move from the spot on which they began the match. Our opinion is that they'd gone into it thinking it was done and dusted - that'll teach them. Still, we've beaten The Arsenal 2-1 today so I'm marginally mollified by that result.

As for Coyle leaving the Mighty Whites? He'd be crazy to do so, in my opinion - look what's happened to previous BW managers who've tried to do better for themselves...Bruce Rioch? Took us up to the prem, left for Arsenal, was never seen / heard from again...Sam Allardyce? Got his comeuppance after being potted by Newcastle and Blackburn, career now in the dolldrums...Lesson? NEVER leave BW voluntarily or thou shalt suffer the consequences...Hope you're reading this, Owen!

Am in total agreement here - it's all in the little nuances of the game that makes it fascinating.

    But cricket? WHAT???!!!

At the risk of sounding completely un-PC, I do believe it's the influx of foreign players that's resulted in the fakery going on. Any right-minded fan will tell you that the 'falling down, clutching groin' crap going on is not convincing or appreciated.

Us girls are far less wimpy, believe me! (prepares for onslaught)

Well done the Wanderers! It's always great to see the Arse falling on their behinds and Wenger is looking ever more haunted with each passing week. Their season is now dead.

Celtic. 'Nuff said (especially with all the ballyhoo going on with R***ers, Neil Lennon, and so on.)

As for down in the EPL, I just look out for any teams with a Scottish presence so Man Utd, Bolton, Everton, Liverpool...the list goes on.
