Default Awesome bands no one has heard of...

Ok, maybe folks have heard of them, but maybe they are obscure or outside the listening realm of what your friends, family, or coworkers listen to. Anyway, let's see some of the artists you think deserve to be a lot more popular than they are.

Two off of the top of my head are:

    Devin Townsend

    The Wildhearts

And just today I was surfing youtube and came across a shitload of Dutch artists that I think deserve looking into. Compare the talent of these folks to the top 40 artists in the US, and how many of them can sound this good live:

The VH bros' aren't just a fluke, I guess. Someone better see what they're putting in the water over there.

Oh wait. They are Dutch. It must be...GOOOOOOLD!

That's not the type of vocals he's known for, but I do love that song. The whole album 'Addicted' is awesome. Another good cut from it:

There's a Boston band I came across several years ago called Angry Hill that is pretty awesome. Unfortunately, they don't have shit on Youtube. They do have a MySpace page:

The Reason sounds good Mike. Not my style but they do have a good edge.

That Devin Townsend's really good Wildman. That first song was pretty epic.

These guys are way off the beaten path. Fell in love with this group long ago when I stumbled upon one of their CD's at a college radio station.

16 Horsepower is tough to label in simple terms. Been described as "incendiary gospel, hallowed folk and mordant tones infused with a high, dark theatricality worthy of Nick Cave."

    16 Horsepower with Leonard Cohen.

    Outlaw Song

That's my idea of good Christian music.

Freak Kitchen...got into these guys after seeing their lead singer/guitarist at NAMM in '08, and was completely blown away. Great stuff, this song is one of my favorites.

Sorry if you guys have heard this, but I just saw him for the first time on PBS this weekend. This song really caught my attention. It's a 100% cliche blues tune, but I love his old school sound. Joe is only 33, and I think there are videos of him @ 12 years old playing.

My favorite band no one has ever heard of is The Clarks, from Pittsburgh. They remind me a lot of another one of my favorites, the Gin Blossoms, in the way they have a jangle pop-meets-country sort of sound. I'm lucky enough to have seen them twice.

    Here's one of theirs:

How famous is The Knife? Do they fit in this category? They're amazing either way-

Also, The Big Pink. They played in Dallas last year and I missed them. I'm still kicking myself-

Once again, I'm not too sure how famous they are, I just know they're not mainstream
