Default Does anyone top Robert De Niro's filmography?

When I look at his overall list of movies it makes it easier to forget the last decade of mostly bad movies.

    Mean Streets
    The Godfather II
    Taxi Driver
    The Deer Hunter
    Raging Bull
    The King of Comedy
Once Upon a Time in America
    Brazil
    Angel Heart
    The Untouchables
    Midnight Run
    Awakenings
    Goodfellas
    Backdraft
    Cape Fear
    A Bronx Tale
    Mad Dog and Glory
    Casino
    Heat
    Sleepers
    Cop Land
    Jackie Brown
    Wag the Dog
    Ronin
    The Score
    The Good Shephard
    Machete

    Can anyone compete with that?

I agree.. DeNiro is the man. Also gotta agree that the past decade has been shitsville.

If we're talking filmography, how about Tom Hanks?

Sad to say, I've seen 4, maybe 5 of those movies - and I hated the hell out of "The Deer Hunter". Maybe they're not as good actors, but give me Clint Eastwood or Harrison Ford movies any day.

De Niro just never seems to stop working. He has the advantage of having
been in some classics from the 70s, but I agree a lot of the projects he
accepts these days are truly headscratchers. The Fockers anyone? Please.
And I'm gonna go Family Guy on you and say I didn't enjoy The Godfather
    that much. Sue me.

I might say Jack Nicholson, just because I can think of a handful of his
films off the top of my head that I enjoyed more. But it's close. I mean
Taxi Driver and Raging Bull alone are king makers.

Ford is good, but I can't give him the edge mainly because he has so much fluff in there. Good movies, but not a lot beneath the surface.

My biggest problem with Eastwood is his 80's films. Most of his bad movies came from the 80's. Honkytonk Man, City Heat, Firefox. The only good film he really made in the 80's was Tightrope. On the other hand, he has some underrated work like Tightrope, Breezy and The Beguiled. I think in the end his masterpieces are "The Man with No Name" Trio, Unforgiven and Letters From Iwo Jima.

I love The Bridges of Madison County, High Plains Drifter, Hang'em High, Dirty Harry, In The Line of Fire, Magnum Force and Tightrope. But they're not quite good enough to be a 10/10. maybe Dirty Harry... Although Magnum Force is the only sequel in the series that I like myself.

Tom Hanks... Well, he's the actor version of Steven Spielberg. He has so many good fluff movies to his credit that you have to put him up there. And again, it's personal taste... But he doesn't take on enough serious material for me to put him at De Niro's level in terms of great movies.

Jack gives him a run for his money. Lot's of his 70's stuff is underrated by people. I would say that Carnal Knowledge, Goin' South, The Missouri Breaks and The Last Detail are all underrated. Really forgotten about because of Five Easy Pieces, Chinatown and Once Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Really he doesn't hit a big bomb in his career until He makes Two Jakes and that early to mid 90's period is his down period before he bounced back with As Good As It Gets. A movie I actually didn't enjoy when it came out. But he helps when you get some older.

Bobby D rules. He does have some stinkers, but his incredible roles outshine any of those. So many of my favorite movies are his, Goodfellas, Casino, Godfather II, Midnight Run, Heat. I love those movies.

Tom Hanks is a very good actor, he does comedy and drama both very well. There aren't too many actors who can do that.

As for the Eastwood and the Dirty Harry movies...I used to love them when I was a kid. But frankly all the sequels suck except for Magnum Force. I really liked Gran Torino, I would throw that in there.

The remote control car chase scene in The Dead Pool is kind of amusing... Not amusing enough to make up for the rest of the lousy movie though.

I would give Mystic River and Million Dollar Baby the thumbs up... But I don't really like how manipulative MDB becomes and Mystic River... Well, I don't really like the ending too much, and the acting is spotty in places. Gran Torino is badly acted and his last two movies I want no part of. It's sad that Clint has turned into Ron Howard and that's what it appears has happened judging by the trailers of his last 2 movies.

It's tough to watch the ones with Sondra Locke in them. I wonder what he ever saw in that women because she was annoying and not all that attractive.

I don't really care for that one all that much. It's not a terrible movie, but it's just lacking something that all his other westerns had.
