Default U.S. Dollar Collapse Could Occur At Any Time, Says NIA

March 11- China this morning reported 4.9% price inflation for the month of February, exceeding analyst expectations of 4.8%. With China now mimicking the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and taking steps to artificially manipulate their consumer price index (CPI) numbers as low as possible, it is likely that real price inflation in China is now closer to 10%. China was at least smart enough to raise interest rates last month by 25 basis points to 6.06%, while the Federal Reserve continues to leave interest rates near zero with there being absolutely no talk of the Federal Reserve ever raising interest rates again. China will be successful at containing inflation, as U.S. inflation spirals out of control and becomes the greatest economic crisis in American history.

Might be true, but there is not a damn thing I can do about it except stock up on ammo.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

What do y'all think of investing for protection against this? Any good ideas? Precious metals, commodities, offshore accounts, etc.? Ammo is certainly not a bad idea.

I've been reading Huckabee's book he wrote in September, and it's scary how much he was talking about "could" happen has already happened, next up is hyperinflation.

People really have no idea how close we are, wheelbarrow full of cash for a loaf of bread.

There is no doubt that the dollar is living on borrowed time as things stand at the moment. "printing" trillions only devalues the dollars already in circulation. The only thing keeping it afloat is the petrodollar, but a lot of mutterings have been going on about a basket of currencies as the new reserve, probably Euro, pound sterling, Yen, RMB and SDRs. That day is coming, of that there is absolutely zero doubt.

It is how the markets and governments respond to this shift, and how it happens, that will shape the next step for the US.

Personally, I feel that the US government would have better used all that new money to actually subsidise existing profitable American companies, thus lowering retail prices. I know this smacks of the dreaded "socialism" (bad language sorry) but this would encourage US consumers to buy US made products (the few that exist nowadays) and create a new buying trend, away from imported products, and get people to recognise home grown brands and create loyalty to those brands. It wouldn't take long to cause a habit shift and would be less dangerous than imposing import tarrifs, likely to cause a trade war or at least a bulk unloading of dollar debt. It's a mid term solution that would be expensive in the short term, but less of a waste than just trying to create jobs out of thin air.

Give tax breaks and incentives to businesses setting up or even relocating to the US to actually make it worth their while not to outsource or simply up and leave. Raise interest rates to at least make saving a slightly atractive option again to stem the ridiculous tide of private borrowing. Fractional reserve systems do not create wealth, no matter what the balance sheet says.

In short, I don't think that the dollar is beyond rescue, but it will take a major shift in attitudes and activities to help it through the next few years.

As for the national debt? The only way that will ever go away is if some precious resource is found in a abundance in America. Otherwise, it will be a debtor nation forever, short of declaring war on all it's creditors.
A man could lose himself in a country like this.

this is very bad! besides the main fact that alot of people are dead, missing, or about to be gone. subaru and toyota have idled plants in america because they cant get parts to them. i have to wonder will new jobs crop up here to make parts for subaru and toyota? i know it cost more to make things here than it does there but i wonder what the next step is cause it doesnt appear japan is exporting anything for a while.

anything said after "besides the main fact that alot of people are dead" is bound to look really bad. This is no exception.

Never mind the dead people, the cost of my Corolla just went up.

what exactly were you trying to say? That there would be economic ramifications to an earthquake ravaging one of the world's largest economies? Well, yeah. I think we all kind of get that.

But your post would be the equivalent of me posting in the days after 9-11 - "damn I hope all those dead people don't impact my insurance rates". Kinda dumb and insenstive, don't you think?

i think he did too, but hey who am i to say. the last couple days ive been on here ive had words with people and had my own thread closed cause they say im insensitive to whats going on and it makes me wonder if im being singled out here or what. case in point if u go and look at the thread "8.8 quake with Tsunami hits japan" u see right away some of the insesitivity right away and no one is calling them out on that. so it really has me wondering if its what u say or whose the one saying it? i didnt mean for it to come off that way if it was insensitive!! and i surely didnt mean for this thread to become this!

your thread in the guitar room was based purely on speculation and paranoia and served no purpose, no one is singling you out. i have read the tsunami thread and contributed towards it and theres nothing in there that really causes any offence or insensitivity. i would agree with you though that the stoppage of various Japanese manufacturing plants in America, due to unavailability of parts etc could only impact the American economy in a bad way, only serving to make the situation worse.

maybe your right about speculation but is not most of the stuff on here that we descuss purely speculation? specially when Van Halen is concerned? we speculate this or that on here and to be quite honest with u ive seen alot of insesitive things in threads on the links. i dont say anything about it cause thats their opinion or view. i dont start attacking them or what have u. never did i once say fuck those japs! i wouldnt say that because i feel for those people they are in a real bad spot right now. but i really dont think what i said was being insensitive. sorry if people feel that way maybe we should pull up our big girl panties and suck it up. if i gotta go through a course on what to say or what not to say so i dont affend some of u people on here then why even be here? i like comming here because i get to read different topics and get different views. oh and get all the up to date info on VH. lol i didnt right what i wrote to offend anyone and ill be damned if im gonna quit talking in fear that someone will be offended by what i say cause quite frankly anything u say can be takin alot of different ways. look at the bible for instance. everything is wrote in black and white and people been debating the words for centuries. so in review, im sorry didnt mean any offense and pull up your big girl panties!
