Default movie producers think we don't notice

THAT THEY ARE MAKING THE SAME DANG MOVIE IN DUPLICATE

case in point...the recent release "No Strings Attached" with Natalie Portman and Ashton Cutcher "A guy and girl try to keep their relationship strictly physical, but it's not long before they learn that they want something more."

and "Friends With Benefits" with Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake "The relationship between two friends gets complicated when they decide to get romantic."

or a couple of years ago "The Back Up Plan" with Jennifer Lopez "A romantic comedy centered on a woman who conceives twins through artificial insemination, only to meet the man of her dreams on the very same day."....which I think was stolen from the last season of 'Will and Grace"

and "The Switch" with Jennifer Anniston "An unmarried 40-year-old woman turns to a turkey baster in order to become pregnant. Seven years later, she reunites with her best friend, who has been living with a secret: he replaced her preferred sperm sample with his own."

it's bad enough when they are making movies based on every tv show from the 60's that they can, but this is getting ridiculous..

excuse OLO ...a couple of blobby aliens came in and downloaded everything in his brain pan last night

they are currently shuffling thru the old sports statistics, raccoon memories and treasure trove of porn and old sitcom plots, in an effort to understand our civilization

I'm not really in the movie-going demographic anymore, and a bit out of the
loop over here in terms of what's current. But one example like this that had
me scratching my head was a new(ish) Denzel Washington movie where he
has to stop a train or something. Didn't he just make another 'gotta-stop-the-
train-movie' like, 5 years ago already?

Unstoppable (2010) "With an unmanned, half-mile-long freight train barreling toward a city, a veteran engineer and a young conductor race against the clock to prevent a catastrophe."

Taking of Pelham 123 (2009) Armed men hijack a New York City subway train, holding the passengers hostage in return for a ransom, and turning an ordinary day's work for dispatcher Walter Garber into a face-off with the mastermind behind the crime.

Runaway Train (1985) Eric Roberts stars "Two escaped convicts and a female railway worker find themselves trapped on a train with no brakes and nobody driving."

Seems like there are runs where movies of similar plots or settings come out at the same time...much like Armageddon and Deep Impact.

My advice is to go for the alien abduction story. Look bemused, dishevelled and on the verge of tears as you recount your story of intrusive and degrading medical tests.

so didn't I, actually, but I did take note even then that two similarly themed movies were in release (and again shortly thereafter with "Volcano" and "Dante's Peak", the latter of which I have not seen).

well, if you're gonna go there, should probably throw in "Under Siege 2: Dark Territory", too!

    "Throw Mama From The Train"?

I seem to recall a couple of utterly forgettable underwater themed films coming out about the time that The Abyss came out as well.
