Whoa I heard about this yesterday and didn't think too much of it. Just little stories about a quake off shore. But it's turned out to be something horrible. Terrible day in Japan.

Right now there are tsunami warnings to over fifty countries. Mexico is on that list but won't see it until tomorrow evening. California just was placed on tsunami warning, I don't know if it's the entire coast or not. We should find out more obviously in the coming hours.

Those were the pre-shocks I think. The big quake struck at approx. 9:45pm pacific time on Thursday night.

Yeah, that makes sense. Probably so.

Debris field washing inland. Devastating everything in its path. So many people down there.
The helicopter/camera catches up to the debris wave 35 seconds in.

Just heard they are scrambling some of the navy ships from California in fear of possible damage. Massive quake. Was up watching CNN as it struck. The video coming in of the Tsunami is indescribable . Cars trying to flee along the highways being washed away. Complete towns being wiped out in real time. Heard cruise ships as well just disappeared off radar. Waves travelling at over 500 MPH. The oceanographic society just stated that a 5 ft. wave in open water can become over 20ft. on land and travel up to 7 miles inland. Scary stuff.
supposed to hit the west coast of the US and Canada in about an hour or so.
    Be safe all.

OMG when this thread started I thought Eddymon was joking about the VH album b/c the cnn clip did not pull up on my computer, ancient as my computer is.

I digress, and pray for all those who were lost in this tremendous tragedy. It is unreal.
