Wow, I wish I could say 'I remember it like yesterday", but damn the memories are fading. Saw em' later that summer in Davenport, Iowa at the Mississippi River Jam.

Reminds me of that Steven Wright joke: "About twenty years ago I was...no, it was yesterday..."

I was twelve years old back then. A friend of mine actually saw this tour. (It was Van Halen, Montrose and Journey. He probably saw it in Detroit since that's where his dad lived.)
I was so jealous because he had actually been to a real rock concert and my parents wouldn't even let me go to the skating rink by myself.
I asked him to tell me about it and he said that Journey and Montrose were good, but Van Halen was terrible. Quote: "Just a lot of senseless screaming."

I bought the first VH album a few weeks after that. I don't know why. It was sitting in the bargain bin at the record store and I just grabbed it because I could afford it. I listened to most of it, but it wasn't as cool as KISS, so I put it away for a while. I still have it, I think. It's all scratched up.

The line up at the jam I saw was: Doobie Brothers, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Journey and VH.

It was held at a park on the banks of the Mississippi river. I grew up a couple of miles from where it was held and we would go fishing down there regularly.

I still believe there was another band that opened before Van Halen. Could have been a local band or I could have been high. Probably was high.

They came to Redding, Ca (solo) during that time period. The Redding conventioon center holds about 2500 people. My friend bought me a ticket and I gave it away cause I had no idea who they were. What a dumb ass...

Funny you should mention Admiral Dewey...

So, how was the show? A lot of senseless screaming?

I don't know about the show Daisy went to, but there wasn't any senseless screaming in Hollywood FL in Nov...there was a lot of senseless mumbling from Ozzy when Sabbath took the stage though.
