Finally a new Van Halen product I can't wait to have in my hands!
Sammy did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it.

Q: who was the biggest douche that you have worked with?

A: Eddie Van Halen hands down he threatened all the stage hands that if we wernt all pushed to the side when he got off stage that he would "bash our faces in"

Now the new David-Lee-Roth-Van Halen album, “Tokyo Dome In Concert,” is available for purchase, and it’s super, super, super, super, super, super, crazy bad. - Doug Elfman

Pft. In the real world? Yes. In the rock world? You can describe your former band mate a child molesting Nazi and two years later be on tour with him.

Rock stars are crazy that way.

Looks like Sammy even thinks that Ed has gotten his life back together.

I'm sure somebody here will try and shit on Sam for even talking about VH though.

You really think there's a 90 percent chance?
There's no rumor. There’s no reason to say, "Yes, I’ve got this vibe going on." Right now, zero chance. When my book comes out, zero for a while. But someday, before we all die, fuck yeah. We might be in our nineties though.

The last part says it all. Bullshit subject line.

I think Sammy really believes it is possible. I think he recognizes that the book is going to fire up a shit storm whether he admits it or not.

but from his perspective, being in the band and being part of the tension between Roth and the rest and seeing it all come back around..... I think he really believes that there is no reason that the same can't happen concerning his relationship

What do you think the percent odds are that you'll ever play in Van Halen again?
I'd say it's up there around 90 percent. I would love to make another record with Van Halen. If Eddie was totally cool and was back to the guy I used to know, or a new guy, not the guy I knew the last time [laughs]. He can’t be that guy. I wouldn’t do it if he was like that. It’s below zero, minus zero. But if Eddie really got his life together, which it seems he has judging by the pictures I've seen, then definitely.

EDIT: you know what really fookin stinks SNOOKI is on the cover of RS and the Sammy article is a secondary little blurb

SNOOKI F'N SNOOKI !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rolling Stone has no shame

Sammy was never that great at math, so 90%, don't take it literally. I don't know why he would want to get back into this viper's nest. There's no evidence that they would make better music than what he can do with CF. Just becoz the name would be "Van Halen" doesn't guarantee the quality would be there. Bad idea.

    Sammy turns 90 in 2037.
So there you go, we know when this reunion will happen. EVH might have about 780 albums worth of material by then.

Interesting. Will be a good book, of that I have little doubt. I may even hit the book signing in Hollywood and say hello to that shameless tequila pimp.

Ya know, it's funny. The only two Van Halen albums I currently own are the remastered Fair Warning and the Japanese edition of Balance. I gave away the rest. Washed out, and figured I'd enjoy sporadic sudden VH more on the radio if I didn't have the albums to play over and friggin' over like I did for, oh, ya know, a quarter century already.

And lo and behold, especially since I implemented the wisest decision I've made in my music in decades- satellite radio - it happens enough to where deep cut VH is a pleasure again, when I hear it outta the blue on the Boneyard or Classic Rewind or Classic Vinyl or whatever.

And today, I heard Cabo Wabo on the way home from breakfast-lunch. Literally haven't heard that song in years. What a great Van Halen song. Totally takes me right back to '88 summer, downing Mickey's Big Mouth, smokin' Camel filters, two years into college, being just shorta 21 and living it the fuck up diggin' OU812. Structure, harmonies, melody, bridges, solo...CW is a tentpole VH track. It's a buncha BS all these dorks over the years whining about Van Hagar and how much Sam ruined the deal...if Dave had sung Cabo Wabo with the EXACT same lyrics and Ed's compositions, only in his baritone instead of Sam's falsetto, Roth boyz woulda eaten that fucker up with hollandaise and Kansas City BBQ sauce. Same holds true with most of the Van Hagar discography, minus the ballads, which Dave simply woulda turned into blues.

Ha ha! I love that I got jazzed a little bit on Van Halen today! It's been a while.

    * sigh *

What would be the point now??

After Edward is done being mad at Sam for the book, Sam should call him and make peace. It's probably going to be a while, lol... but I think that is why Sam can't seem to let go. Sam misses his friend, but can't bring himself to extend an olive branch. So he goes in the opposite direction. There's going to be a lot of regret.

    Yawn.

These guys are unbelievable. It's always about what they would do, wouldn't do, might do, might not do, if this happens then....., if this doesn't happen then......

    blah blah fucking blah.

I'm open to hearing new tunes with Dave if that's where this thing is going. But if it never happens or if it's a total disaster then just pull the plug on the whole thing once and for all. Another run with Sam does nothing for me. Let it go.

VH with Dave ('78-'84) - The best years....the "real" VH.
VH with Sam ('86-'96) - Incredible era....."We have renamed this town 'New Halen!'.
VH with Gary ('98) - Fucking disaster. WTF was that??
VH with Wolf/Dave ('12-'15) - Amazing comeback. Smokin' album and tours.
