    Default my rig.... thoughts?

    Hey guys,

    this thread is kind of a tag along to my MXR flanger thread and I was hoping to get some feedback from you guys as to how to make it better.

    Here is my setup....

    as you can see I run my guitar into my dunlop cry baby (with EVH rubber pad.... its the cheaper way out. ha ha....) to my MXR EVH flanger then to my MXR EVH phase 90 to the direct high input of the 5150 combo.

    then through my effects loop I run my boss NS2 noise suppressor, my super shifter PS5 (gives me an awesome EVH balance chorusy, dtuned sound) and finally my Boss dd3 delay. I always run the delay through the effects loop of my 5150 combo because it sound the best and gives me a nice echoy sound and I like it better than straight to the amp. But I was curious about the noise suppressor. Should I be running it straight to the amp or the effects loop. Is there anything that looks wrong with the way I have things set up or does it look good to you guys?

    thanks for the help,

    Rob

    I have pretty much the same pedals as you do actually, funny. And I use a 5150...head not combo.

    Now with the NS-2 I run it out front, and utilize the send and return jacks for my pedals out front. So the chain is like this...which I posted in the other thread.

    Guitar -> Input jack of NS-2 -> Send jack to EVH Phase 90 -> EVH Wah -> EVH Flanger -> Back into Return jack of NS-2.

    Then I run the output of the NS-2 into my pedals that are in the effects loop...that chain goes....

    BBE Sonic Maximizer -> Boss CH-2 -> Boss EQ -> MXR Micro-Amp -> Effects Loop of 5150

    Make sense? I can take a picture of my board and post it if you're interested.

    Ok I got most of it but I am just a little screwed up at this point.

    here is what I have so far....

    guitar to input of NS2
    send of NS2 to MXR EVH phase 90
    then to the wah
    then to the MXR EVH flanger
    then back to the return of the NS2

    now here is where I am stuck.. You said now to go into the effects loop of my 5150 combo but through my other 2 pedals first right? So I have the Boss dd3 delay and the boss PS5 super shifter and they both have input, return type plugs. Can you tell me how you would go from the NS2 through them and to the effects loop of the 5150 in detail?

    one other thing. How do you have your NS2 set?

    thanks so much for the help Brett. I am about halfway there. Cant wait to try this setup out.

    actually Brett,

    I can probobly make due without the pic. Can you just tell me what to do from here on from the NS2 and my 2 pedals in the effects loop and where from there? Where do I plug into the input of the 5150 from?

    thanks again,

    Rob

    Brett,

    here is where I get confused. In the other post you said this,

    Trying to think of my pedal board. Mine goes....

    Guitar -> Boss NS2 -> EVH Phaser -> EVH Wah -> EVH Flanger -> 5150 Input

    I have all my other pedals in the loop, Boss CH-2, Boss DD-3, MXR Micro Amp (for solos), my tuner, and my BBE.
    so it sounds like you went from your flanger to your 5150 input but in the other post I thought you said that you went back to the NS2 and then into your effects loop..... this is where I am stuck...

    BBE Sonic Maximizer -> Boss CH-2 -> Boss EQ -> MXR Micro-Amp -> Effects Loop of 5150

    Ok I had it wrong, I needed to see my board. Here's how you do it. First here's my pedal board. Keep in mind I have it set up to fit how I like to play, so all the pedals "in front" aren't necessarily on the bottom of the board.

    This is how mine goes.

    For the pedals in front of the amp...

    NS-2 Send Jack -> Tuner -> EVH Phase 90 -> EVH Wah -> EVH Flanger -> Boss GE-7 -> Return of NS-2

    Output of NS-2 -> 5150 front input

    Guitar -> NS-2 Input jack

    For the pedals in the loop...

    5150 Effects Out -> BBE 264 -> Boss DD-3 -> Boss CH-1 -> MXR Micro Amp -> 5150 Effects In

    This make a little more sense now?

    Can you see my board, that's actually my current settings. Sometimes I'll turn the threshhold, (far left) down until my amp starts to squeal.

    Sweet man. That set up has always worked for me, and I play it loud, so I know it works.

    Glad I was able to help.

    Believe it or not Brett I got the idea for my pedal board from you. Mine looks real damn similar, especially the carpet.

    yeah I am going to grab some carpet too...ha ha..

    I also have the boss super chorus but you know when I got the boss PS2 shifter I did not need the chorus anymore. It gave me that incredible dtuned, harmonized, Balance era sound and that is the sound I love the most. If I am in the mood for the early or present VH sound I just turn it off and let the amp do the talking for itself.
