Everytime I've been on this board, not even once Alex been given the credit he deserve. Not only he is the best Drummer/Percusionist in the world since, maybe John Bohnan. But he is one crucial part of the Van Halen sound, not mentioning Edward. Alex is a more powerful influence on me than Ed, mostly because I can't play the damn guitar, and I much pretty like beating things with a stick. Anyway Alex just plain rocks, and as much as I want to hear something new from the band.. I want to hear what Alex has up his sleeve.

Yeah, with a genius like EVH and the lead singer changes, it's obvious that Alex and Mikey aren't going to get the attention they deserve.

You should check out the new Musicians Forum and post some stuff about Alex. There's some other drummers on this site and I'm sure they'd love to talk influences and styles.

Big Al simply the greatest Rock & Roll drummer alive today! He is way underreated as a player. If you're a drummer, you know what I'm talking about. Al has a way of playing with the time that is truly brilliant. Right when your ear thinks it's found the pattern, he goes and changes into something completely different.
Al has it all. Plays hard, play soft, fast, slow forwards and backwards right side-up, and upside-down. Plus, and this is the key, he doesn't overplay. He always plays what's right for the song!

Al, you rock like no other drumma my brotha!!! Mad props to Big Al!!

I posted the praises of Alex Van Halen a long time ago. I never forget how awesome he is! Even when he is injured he is better than the rest. I even have one of his drumsticks that Gary threw into the crowd in 98!

    Big Hello to all,

Is Al going to be healthy enough to tour ?

I thought someone had told me Al was going to have to wear that neck brace while he plays for the rest of his playing days...TRUE ? Has anyone else heard this ?

Yes, Al always rocked the drums....

Al always seems to be in Full Bocephus mode!!! Like his father once said, play each show like it's your last. Well, Alex doesn't disappoint. I love the drum solo he has done on the last 2 tours.

not positive on this but I believe that Al had his neck surgically repaired, and is doing much better.

I think Al once said he'd have to wear the neck brace when he plays for the rest of his life.
