I said it earlier today to someone who was trying to get their iPhone 4 going....the more they advance the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain.

The local Toyota dealer figured it out, and got her going again.

Worst case, jack it up and put wheel dollies under the wheels and push it up out of the garage. If possible, you could pull it slowly with a rope or cable, or use a police car to push it carefully with their bumper.

Certainly not the end of the world.

These are the dumbest cars ever! I'm on a trip that I rented one for and it drives me crazy. Gets about 50 miles more to the tank then our car does. Not worth the hastle. No power. Beeps when you're in reverse. The key thing is stupid, etc....

Agreed. The story read as being completely sensationalized. Here's a tip..don't lose your key! And as for the damaging the car if you tow it...there are a lot of cars out there that require a flat bed tow. Let's be clear..I don't give two shits about Toyota or this car...the story just struck me as ridiculous.

PS: I am looking at new cars right now and a LOT of the models I am looking at have these smart keys that you only need in your pocket or lap top bag etc. to open the car and start the engine with the push button. This isn't a Toyota exclusive issue.

I'm seriously considering a Prius as my next car when my current one reaches it's best before date.

don't be fooled, they are nowhere near as environmentally sound as the eco vegetairians will have you believe...you'd be as well to just buy a regular diesel powered car, most will do over 50mpg and they don't sound like agricultural vehicles anymore...the Prius is a big lie on wheels, that kills Polar Bears and boils the oceans.

Instead of using gasoline, you burn coal for the electricity, I really don't see how they are so much better for the environment.

I understand wanting to limit our dependence on foreign oil, but I don't necessarily agree with the environmental savings from it. Maybe I am missing something, wouldn't be the first time or the last.

I own 2 Honda Accords with 270 horsepower and they are both ULEV. If they want me to buy a more eco-friendly cars, make faster gas sippers. I do enough damage to the ozone when I drive my 71 Oldsmobile 98 with a 455 in it on the weekends.

What get me is that I owned one of those insipid Geo Metro things back in the mid 90's and that thing got 40mpg back then and cost me less than 9 grand brand new...where was the progress from there?

As a side note, when the gas prices started going up again, these Metros started showing up for sale everywhere.

I'm looking at it from a fuel consumption stand point; that simple. A prius (as an example) gets the best fuel economy on the road...The Jetta TDI is fantastic - but still a few liters per 100km's higher.

@ DD....hybrids create their electricity regeneratively (sp??) - so no coal is used at all.

In the example of The Volt; a plug in type of car...yes, coal is used to create electricity - however you'd need to have 100% of your energy created from coal to be equal to the polution created from a traditional ICE....the highest amount of coal used within the US is 70% (and it's only a couple of states).

However, for me ultimately, it's about fuel economy....gas up her is now north of $1.15 per liter fairly regularly....I drive 50,000km's per year....I'm looking to cut down consumption...Going to 4liters per 100K from 11.5 liters per 100km is pretty compelling.

An honest / secondary reason for this (and a bit of a rank) is I'm tired of being the whipping boy for assorted gas prices....anything I can do to seperate myself from that - I'm good with. When gas was $150 per gallon 2 years ago, a liter cost $1.30 (and the loonie was at parity)....now, gas is $85 per barrel - the dollar is parity and we're being charged $1.15 per liter....yup - pretty freaking tired of it.
Winners come and go; legends are forever.
