Default Sammy: "Joe has better pitch than EVH"

    From the http://guitarinternational.com/wpmu/...er-uncensored/ interview

Matt: Joe is the latest in a long list of legendary guitarists that you’ve worked with over your career, including Ronnie Montrose, Neal Schon and Eddie Van Halen. Is Joe’s playing and writing style pushing your vocals in new directions with Chickenfoot?

Sammy: The thing that Joe does better than everyone else, is he plays perfectly in tune. When he bends a note, when he hits his whammy bar and sends a note into some supersonic fucking octave, it’s in key. For a singer, that’s a beautiful thing. As much as a singer gets their notes from the bass, you get your melodic things, and for me, my whacked out screams and high notes that I jump up and grab, I’m getting those from the guitar.

When I was playing with Eddie, he’s doing all of those screams and squeals, and I’m doing the same thing with my voice, but with Joe it’s so much easier because it’s perfectly on pitch all the time.

IMHO, That's just a stupid comment.

honestly, I think the only time I have heard ED out of tune or pitch, was in the club days playing a cover of RnR Hoochie Koo....

I have almost every bootleg from the 04 tour and Ed was basically out of pitch ALL THE TIME during those shows. I mean he was hitting sour notes ALL THE TIME back then. He had a few good nights but not even close to what his potential is. Of course he was having some alcohol problems at the time and that could have something to do with it. Other than the 04 tour I agree with you. He has played great through the years.

For once Sammy really does need to STFU!

This book is going to rile up everyone it seems. 2 years from now a real reunion will take place with Mike as well and he will claim that Eddie is the greatest of all time.
Sam does speak but half the time he says shit that promotes Sam and leaves the truth behind.

I'm a fan of both eras ,so I'm not bashing.
Ed was off a lot in 04, but Sammy is an idiot.
He's one of those guys where what ever he's doing at the moment is the best ever.
Remember in 04 he said Learning to See was the best song he ever did with Van Halen on that prerelease radio show.

We will see Sam going out of his way to say "Satch is better than Eddie" over and over again...until the day comes, if ever, that he feels the public actually thinks that's the case.

No I won't buy it. I am sure enough excerpts will show up here. The story has kind of been told many times. It would be like another Van Halen greatest hits with a song list of: Eruption
    You Really Got Me
    Ain't talkin' bout love
    Running with the Devil
    Beautiful Girls
    etc.

LOL! It's already riling the EVH ponyboyz up and it hasn't even dropped yet.

Care to wager on your real reunion prediction?

Say, did Noise ever pay Burt his gazillion bucks?

Sam had to work a little harder to keep up with Ed's crazy shit. Big deal. Satch makes it easier to stay within a certain range and zone. Big deal

Oh hell no, I would never been on this band!

I just threw that out there. I think the Sammy and VH ship sailed and sunk.
After Dave its the Santana root I'm afraid.

Seriously, I have never had a problem with Eddie's pitch. I think that Sammy's yowling and Satch's wailing may complement each other more than Sammy's yowling and Eddie's wailing. Satch and Sammy may think more like each other in that department than Sammy and Edide did. I don't think it's a pitch issue.
