Default Does anyone make a great "lead" guitar anymore?

Back in the day we had the Kramer Baretta, The B.C. Rich ST III and a few others.

You know what I mean. Lightweight, fast neck, one pickup only, volume knob only.

    Anyone?

As far as the one P/U, one Knob...Well, there's G&L and their Rampage (Jerry Cantrell Tribute series) reissues. One pickup, one knob and killer tone! They look a little unorthadox in the Strat vein but they're very comfortable, and they play awesome, and just have balls. Very resonant soft maple body that's super responsive. Weather or not you like a Kahler though is the only stumbling block some folks have. These reissues have the Floyd locking nut though, not the cheap Kahler atrocities of the originals.
As far as "lead guitars", i'm not sure I get where you're coming from entirely. I'm assuming you mean a real meat and potatoes axe meant for one purpose, but in terms of performance, it's almost limitless out there. ESP make real great guitars, the Wolfies an obvious choice, as is the special. The Axis, and how can you not mention Ibanez? They may not appeal to everyone, but there's no denying they're light, with super fast necks, and scream with the best of them.
If you don't like the extra pickups....don't use 'em! lol

Tons of killer guitars for rock leads. Tom Anderson and Suhr comes to mind.

If you like cool, rock music, check out REVERY. We've put out two albums, and an EP. We were signed back in '06 and toured the US (our single Popstar Wedding was all over the radio back then). Our latest album, Adora De Phonic is available on Itunes, Amazon, etc.

    I agree!
I play a GMW 5150 and it's the BEST feeling/playing/sounding single humbucker/floyd guitar ive ever played and ive owned a lot of 80's Kramers.

    The neck is unbelievable!
    Very fast!
    No finish.
I heard they won't make this model anymore but maybe that's just the paint job.

Here's the latest guitar I got from Lee Garver at GMW...

The graphic was painted by Dan Lawrence and was based on this Albino Python...

Wow he does beautiful work. Really enjoyed browsing the site. Love the intense flames and/or quilts with the fret board inlays and abalone body binding. Having a custom axe that pretty would be awesome.

Now maybe this isn't a good bang for the buck, but for harder edge music with use of a tremolo I really dig the Ibanez Jems. Also a buddy of mine has some really nice new Jacksons and those are sweet as well. I was surprised by how nice they are.
