Default Michael Anthony: "I'm looking forward to hearing new VH album"

    Source: http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/bla...sitemID=153265

According to ABC News Radio, former VAN HALEN bassist Michael Anthony says he's "excited" that his former band are releasing new material.

The long-awaited new album from VAN HALEN inched another step closer to reality last month, when producer John Shanks confirmed via Twitter that he was indeed working with the band. Shanks had been rumored since late last year to be on board the project, which will feature singer David Lee Roth back behind the mic for the first time in over a quarter century. All Shanks wrote was, "Here we go kids...vh."

The Grammy-winning producer has worked on albums from BON JOVI, FLEETWOOD MAC, PINK, SHERYL CROW and many others.

Speaking to ABC News Radio, Anthony said, "I'm looking forward to seeing what they'll do," adding that he has "no hard feelings" about his split from the band in 2005. He was replaced by Eddie Van Halen's son, Wolfgang.

Anthony hasn't spoken to any of the members of VAN HALEN since the end of the band's 2004 tour. He said, "The tour did not end as harmoniously as we would have liked it to and it probably should have gone on longer than it did." Still, Anthony wouldn't be against having his band CHICKENFOOT open for VAN HALEN should they go on tour — "I got no problem with that," he said.

That would be a massive show. A definite must see. I don't know if there's a building big enough to hold the ego power, but that would be fun.

Cool to read Mike's positive response.

So let me get this straight...Mike is excited to hear VH's new album?

Doesn't that certify him as a koolaid drinking fanboy filled with dreams of a VH album being completed and released when reality and logic of past years dictates it's unlikely to cross the finish line?

Somebody better set Mike straight. Let him know not to hold his breath and all that stuff. Poor guy needs some enlightenment. lol

lol just having fun and being a little bit of a smart ass.

I don't think the VH's would want CF opening though it's cool of Mike to be so supportive.

IMO Mike will never have his door closed to VH and likely has much less if any stink eye to the situation as some fans do and maybe feel he should have.

Saw Mike on a rerun of that metal show and I don't know. He's happy in CF, did get a raw deal, very raw from our perspective..but I get the vibe that Mike would love to be in a functioning VH again. Not in lieu of CF or whatever. Just got a vibe from some of the reunion jokes they were tossing at him that he has a "oh well would be real nice but life moves on" attitude about it as opposed to they are a bunch of dicks so fk em attitude that some think he should have. etc. I think he has a lot of attachment, fondness and all that for VH and would do it if things were reasonably cool. You gotta like the guy that much more that he comes off that way imo. Bigger man or whatever.

That's neither here or there and off topic sorry. always cool to read comments from Mike. Almost always upbeat and positive.

Irving Azhoff must get a boner when he hears Mike and Sam comment on CF opening for VH. The fucking ticket sales would be through the roof! Sadly CF would need to attach a tour with a big named band like VH to play the larger arenas/sheds. Imagine an hour and a half of CF followed by 2-2 1/2 hrs of VH!

Regardless to what has transpired between Mike and Sam with the brothers VH, I think that if both of them can move past it then the fans should too.
Everyone involved seems happier these days. If ex's like Ed and Val can be good friend's why can't Ed/Al, Mike and Sam at least be friendly?
'Old Van Halen, when I was in it-classic Van Halen-makes you wanna drink, dance and screw, right? And the new Van Halen encourages you to drink milk, drive a Nissan and have a relationship.' - David Lee Roth.

I think it would be VERY hard for Mike to share the stage with Van Halen and not be part of Van Halen. That's his fucking band, and he's gonna watch Ed's kid play bass on songs he helped make famous? No way. Mike might like the idea in theory, I don't believe he'd be excited about it when he got on that stage and wasn't a member of the band.
