    Default Big Country

Apparently, long defunct band Big Country have drafted The Alarm's Mike Peters in the frontman spot to replace the late Stuart Adamson (who committed suicide in 2001) to do some shows through Europe. They sound surprisingly good in this clip:

BTW, this is Big Country in their prime when Adamson was still alive:

I saw them 4 times on their first 3 album's respective tours in the '80's. Great, great band, especially live.

Awesome, just AWESOME to see a thread about this band. Totally underrated! I was turned on to these guys when I was in the 6th grade, I believe. Been hooked ever since... I like the sound of the new band and will be at the show if they come around my area.

Big Country is in heavy rotation in my collection...

    Thanks for posting this!

The change makes sense. However, as anyone who ever met Stuart Adamson will tell you, he was a real GENTLEman and can never be truly replaced.

One of the few, if perhaps the only, "celebrity" deaths that saddened me in a real way.

The day he died I played this video endlessly. Sounds like he was singing his own epitaph. 15 years on the wagon and no-one could help him when he lost it.

A true shame. Very much missed by this linker.

Interestingly, Watson and/or Adamson was using the 5150 head the last year the band was together.

I am a Big Country fan too. In A Big Country, Look Away, Perfect World, Harvest Home, Peace In Our Time, and One Great Thing are my favorite songs by them.

It's sad Stuart is dead, I don't see how they can replace him. He played guitar and sang. No one plays guitar like him.

A really good band that had much more to offer than just "In A Big Country". Wish Adamson was still around, but I'll would give the new lineup a chance.
